Yorkie (not what it was!)
« on: October 31, 2005, 02:43:51 pm »

I've bought several Yorkies lately after having ignored them for many years.  I've tried Raisin and Biscuit, Hot Rum and 'ordinary' varieties (Biscuit seems to have been discontinued altogether).  Would anyone agree that they are just not the same as in the Rowntree days?  Judging by those I've bought recently, the smooth, creamy taste and texture of old seems to have given way to an excessively sweet, powdery quality.  Reminiscent in fact of the 'chocolate-flavour candy' used in (very) cheap Xmas tree decorations!  I've written to Nestle about this, but predictably, they deny that the recipe has been tampered with.  What do you think?

Yorkies are horrible now, not at all what they used to be.

Nestle have corrupted some of our best chocolate bars. They have ruined Kitkats, Toffee Crisps and Lion bars - Yorkies too. Shame on them.
Old but spicey!

I actually quite like yorkies, but I know plenty of people who don't. I love the raisin and biscuit one.

Good point, I think I would choose Dairy Milk or Galaxy over Yorkie.

Actually I take back what I said...I would take a Yorkie over the likes of Toffee Crisp and Lion bars.
