With accompanying nods, gestures and much strange body langugae I I keep being reminded by friends, family and colleagues that I am "reaching a big milestone this year".

That seems to be an excuse for assuming that I have lost all sense of taste. So, I am leaving little notes here and there to let people know that, should they be planning anything, they can definitely leave the following off the music list:

Cliff Richard

Abba

The Nolans

Barry Manalow

The Bee Gees

Why do people assume anyone who grew up in the 70s adores this lot??

Oh er... Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac (old line up), Smokey Robinson, some sad old dance numbers but no.. Bay City Rollers, Sweet, Mud or Shawaddywaddy!

Na, it's just people keep reminding me. It's my brother-in-laws half century a few weeks before mine so maybe we should have a joint party. Our son is 21 this year too and father-in-laws bit of fluff is 80 so it's quite a year!

Yes Oldspice, 60 is a milestone but there's no need for people to buy the Nolan Sisters. Mind you I always rated ABBA so I wouldn't turn my nose up at their records. Are you having a big cake for your birthday, it will have to be quite big to get all the candles on
