There is no difference... we need to break down these walls which divide us, man!

As far as the Predator franchise goes... I genuinely preferred the last one - Predators - to all the others. Yes, I know, controversial.

I feel like the space-time continuum is being somehow breached in this thread... paradoxes are opening up all over the place.

Indeed! Maybe he's from a country where women aren't allowed on the internet?

So come on, admit it... who watched?

Didn't we do badly? Bonnie Tyler sounded like an 80 year old chain-smoker and the song she was lumbered with was bland-bland-bland.
 :)
I liked the winner, and think it was the best of the night... but I enjoyed the 'controversial' Finland entry and personally wanted Malta to win it.
 ???
Overall, a waste of 3 and a half hours. Why do I do this each year?
 :-\
Oh, and I still miss Terry.

This is amazing... though I breathed a sigh of relief when I realised he changed the lyrics a bit to remove any reference to certain death and things going wrong.

You mean to say that completely non-garbled statement about personal feelings didn't move you?

The extended/re-edit of Alien 3 is definitely worthy of your attention (it might've even been better if they managed to persuade Fincher to help out.) As for Alien 4... I watched that again last night, and like I said, as a popcorn flick it's fine... it just plays as a bit tacky compared to the other 3. I blame Joss Whedon's script (NEVER should've got him to write it) and the direction of a french guy who had little previous knowledge of the series. Oh, and Winona Ryder... who ruins everything she's in by default.

I disliked AVP... mainly due to the 12 rating on it. How the hell can you make a film with Aliens and Predators and rate it anything but 18? Having said that, Requiem got a harsher rating and sucked for other reasons. (Mainly by betraying certain aspects of the mythology of the two breeds.) I didn't really like the way the Aliens were protrayed as the Predators 'bitches'. That irritated me. It was after the first AVP film that the likes of Ridley Scott stated they would never have anything to do with either franchise ever again. Thankg goodness he reconsidered!

I enjoyed it so much it inspired me to immediately watch the Alien boxset I bought years ago but never watched. Going through all the films again (obviously I had seen them all before multiple times, hence the lack of urgency to watch the boxset), it became suddenly clear that, despite all I had read and knew about it and all that, I'd never actually seen the extended version of Alien 3 all the way through... just finished watching it, and I bloody loved it. Finally I have seen a worthy successor to Aliens. The only problem I have with the series now is Resurrection, which as much as I enjoyed as a popcorn flick, doesn't hond a candle to the toher 3.

And don't get me started on AVP!

Prometheus blew me away and I'm so happy the sequel is going forward. I'm kind of hit and miss with sci-fi but this one really did it for me.

Indeed - can't argue with The Kubrick!

Not that I'm dead against all types of CGI... I finally watched Prometheus last night and was blown away by the visuals. I just believe there is a time and place for everything, and CGI blood replacing blood squibs is just plain old offensive to me.

It's also regarded as general fact that the porn industry, by backing BuRay. are responsible for the death of HD-DVD...much like they did with VHS and Betamax all those years ago. They are the power behind the throne.

Back when widescreen was a new thing I used to collect ONLY widescreen videos. It was a mini celebration every time I got a new one in 2.35:1, and a mini disaster I bought one in 1.85:1, or God forbid 1.77:1 (even if this was the correct aspect ratio.) When something was released in true CinemaScope it was always time to celebrate. That's one thing DVD did for this world... it got everyone watching widescreen at home, which was unthinkable just a few short years earlier.
