Title: small manufacturer from Australia
Post by: ChocolateSecret on November 25, 2008, 10:42:23 am
Hi,
are people allowed to announce their product range here?

MOD EDIT: Hi. We don't have any advertising as such on this website, but if you have an affiliate programme it might be worth you sending Chocadmin a private message with the details.

Why was this edited? I am sorry but this is a chocolate forum .... they were only informing us of their chocolate range!? No wonder this place is so dead

Okay, I've been holding off on this, but it's time someone said something.

Jim, it seems like every time you come on here lately, you're doing nothing but complaining about how dead the forum is. There was even a thread in which you referred to us as 'sad bastards wasting our lives on a dead chocolate forum'. Then in other threads you have complained the forum is unfriendly! Please explain what, if anything, about your behaviour would make anyone want to be friendly towards you?

The thread was edited (note edited, not deleted) because Chocadmin does not allow free advertising on this site. As the original poster was polite enough to ask if he/she could advertise the product range, I equally politely explained that this is not allowed, but offered him/her the alternative of making Chocolate Review an affiliate. If you, or any other member, is that desperate to know about this member's product range, there is nothing to stop you sending him or her a PM. The name of the range is even in the username, for heaven's sake! You could easily use Google and your initiative.

Well its hardly the most active forum ever is it - it mostly consists of one forum member cutting and pasting stories from talkingretail.com and grumbling like a troll.

I just find it ridiculous that people aren't allowed to share their relevant sites - I mean for christ sake this is a chocolate forum

Yes, we are a small forum, but many of us have been posting here for years and enjoy it. And personally if I didn't enjoy it and found it 'dead', I'd go and find somewhere else I felt was more interesting instead of continually moaning about it.

The only reason it is a small forum is because you won't let it grow. I wouldn't bother posting here if it wasn't for Paulham's one in every one hundred interesting post!

How are we stopping it from growing? Genuine new posters are always welcome - it's only people trying to make a fast buck who get short shrift.

Would that be when someone gives you some free chocolate and you hang around hoping for some more?(http://www.bbc.co.uk/606/2/refresh/images/smileys/f_whistle.gif)

To be honest I am coming off as a bit of an a-hole.

Smurf - I obviously have a higher tolerance for direct marketing so from my POV posts that like I find intresting .... obviously you completely differ from this which is fair enough - you and CA run the thing after all so it is your views that count. I will stop complaining.

Paulham - to this day I am still puzzled by why you chose to be so kind, and your generosity has not been forgotten. Saying that you often dilute your kindness with silly/cryptic comments which are aimed to antagonise - which is why I don't like the majority of your posts.

You just don't get my sense of humour. It takes a while (or never). Dont say it antagonises you. That's like a red rag to a bull!(http://www.bbc.co.uk/606/2/refresh/images/smileys/f_nahnah.gif)

Hi,
I was going to apologise earlier for my initial post, but then realised, reading the responces, that I only trigered something that the regular members of this forum had to sort out anyway.
I sent a PM to the moderator requesting a bit more info on affiliated program, no responce so far.
As I said, I find this forum quite informative and happy to place a link on my website.
Sweet dreams..
