Title: Nestle White Lion
Post by: kevvosa on October 21, 2008, 02:05:37 pm
In a lot of cheap shops at the mo they're doing Nestle White Lion bars. They're from Germany I think. Quite tasty but the toffee is a bit too chewy. I guess no one on here but me would be interested.

Overall as an eating experience this was a bar that really struggled to create an impression on me. The change up of chocolate from the original was not a favourable one; in comparison to the original milk chocolate, the white chocolate lacked flavour and depth. The caramel layer also suffered from lack of flavour, which was surprising due to this component being one of the real strengths of the original. The textures were still a real strength of the bar, the contrast in chewy, crunchy and creme layers was well executed - this alone though was not good enough to make this anything more than an average scoring bar. By no means an offensive product, just a little lacking in it's flavours and could have been done better.

So basically, these are crap and you have a job lot to get rid of then?
Oh Emperor, you are really spoiling us with this chocolate!

Haha, very good. I also read it that someone had mispelt practise. Isn't it practice?
I like your idea smurfy practice complaining.

Eh?
I just thought you were referring to my or Jim's misspelling!

Smurfy was correct in his spelling, Lou.

Indeed he was - not many people get the difference between practise/practice and license/licence but thank goodness there are a few of us pedants left.

Have found something even nicer than this white choc Lion - it's called Lion Biaty and it's a Polish version of white Lion. It's smaller but tastes much nicer with a coconut edge. Jim, I reckon you'd like them more than the German version (which incidentally I believe doesn't contain 'real' white choc judging by my rough translation of the German ingredients). If you've got any Polish shops nearby I'd well reccomend trying one. They also do a Polish Peanut Lion.
