I was genuinely shocked and saddened to hear of the death of Richard Whitely. Television in the afternoon will never be the same.
-
Yes. A sad loss.
-
Indeed. I wonder if someone else will take it over?
-
Maybe in time, but surely not for a good respectful while.
-
It was very sad news to hear this morning. A sad loss.
Not sure if he can be replaced on Countdown, could not image someone else filling his shoes easily.
-
They've already filmed some shows with guest hosts to cover for his initial illness, so I imagine they'll do another set of those before choosing a new host. It's very sad.
-
Should the show continue?
-
I wonder whether Carol would want to continue the show with someone else as the host.
-
Obviously I can't say for sure as I didn't know him, but 'Twice Nightly' struck me as the sort of bloke who'd like the programme to live on after him.

I think so too. What happened to that guy who used to do a word quiz called 'Catchword' - Paul Coia (sp?). He'd be good.
-
Michael Barrymore should take it over.

Yes, good idea. Or maybe Andrew or Tom O'Connor? Tom O' Connor always seems quite at home in Dictionary corner.
-

As much as I was saddened by the news, c'mon, Carol? What won't she do for the money?
-
Yes Tom o 'Connor would be good but definitely not Michael Barrymore.
-
How about Des O' Connor?
-
No, I don't think any of them. I would go for Giles Brandreth.
-
No not him. He is horrible.
-
I know, it was a joke. I think Tom O'connor is a good choice. He has that affable manner.
-
But Paul Coia has that sexy voice!
-
And he's married to that lovely Debbie Greenwood.
-
How about Philip Schofield..I like him.
-
Too busy laughing at things that aren't funny with Fern Britton.
-
How about Richard madeley? He could make a right mess of it.
-
Paul Gambachini
-
No don't like him.
-
Steve McFadden
-
robbie you should apply for the job.
