Title: Chocolate highs and lows
Post by: kevvosa on April 08, 2005, 12:35:41 am
Does anyone else feel low and depressed after too much chocolate?

When eating too much I have often felt awful, and I know that this is
to do with the sugar rush thingy to do with blood sugar levels. I try
limit chocolate or sweets to weekends now and eat less of them.

Unfortunately yes it definitely does have this effect on me.  That's why I'm doing this 'GI' diet at the moment and I have to say I feel better for it.  You can still have chocolate but only in limited amounts and at the same time as other things.

I saw that GI diet in the paper and it seems quite sensible. I normally disapprove of those sort of diets but this one sounded fairly balanced. I won't be going on it though as you can't have bread - no thank you!

Bread can affect some people due to the wheat in it, though depends if
you're intolerant I suppose. I've tried wheat free bread and it's
vile.

Yes you can, but only wholemeal as long as it's stoneground, granary (which are both fine by me) or 'sourdough' which I haven't found yet and doesn't sound very tempting!  White bread, especially French, is a no no.

I try to stay away from white bread as much as I can. I tend to go for wholemeal, granary or malted. I actually find them more tasty.

I agree Kevvosa, too much chocolate and I feel funny. Mine is almost limited to weekends now.
