Title: Cabana
Post by: allyh3 on April 05, 2005, 09:38:06 am
Whatever happened to Cabana bars   They were chocolate covered bars filled with pink coconut and cherry bits, they also brought out a melon version. They were little bits of heaven

I remember Cabana's were a bit like a Bounty but with a pinky coconut middle with red and green bits in it.  A rare treat as my pocket money was only 10p per week!!

BRING THEM BACK CADBURYS!

I don'r remember any green bits or melon either. is this a case of false memory syndrom or faulty memory syndrom?

There was no green bits in any of my Cabanas and the red was cherries. I think some people are confused.

Loulou,Choc Chick lets get back to Cabana bars ,im sure this restaurant is very nice but its not going to help confirm or deny the existance of melon cabanas.....i to have no memory of these bars, and as a child was lead to believe that my town was often used as a form of chocolate bar testing ground due to its isolation....melon cabanas i dont think so......

Mystery solved everyone - Melon Cabanas didn't appear in Edwood's isolated town, so therefore it can't possibly have existed.

Or could it? I have it on good authority that the bar was released for a very limited period in just one location in the US. A restaurant. In New York. Now if only someone could tell us about it...

As afficionados of long lost choc bars, does anyone recall a Baristos bar.....a friend of mine, also from my isolated town clearly remembers a bar of this name at about the same time as cabana bars hit the shelves

My friend says and i'm quoting now " Baristo bars were weird,2 fingers, green packets and yellow packets, like oatmeal bars with raisins in them covered in chocolate "If as led to believe, we were an experimental town..........Baristos could have lived and died here....!

I wouldn't eat them if they were oatmeal.

I Agree.....I think oatmeal and Chocolate should be kept apart by at least a hundred miles.. by law .......but then i am a bit of a food fascist....

Those cereal bar things were called 'Balisto'.

We used to get them for free when we were kids because my dad worked for the company

The green ones were the nicest

Well they were discontinued in the eighties so it's unlikely to come back - but then again people thought that about the Texan.
