Title: Take a chocolate bar favourite - and improve it..
Post by: oldspice on August 06, 2013, 07:59:46 pm
I was thinking how much better Topic bars would be if the hazelnuts were replaced by cherries. Which chocolate bar would you improve?

Oooh so many. lol
Thinking about it generally I think I would take most of the chocolate available back about thirty five years, so that it tastes now the way it did when I was growing up.

Specifically, I think I would change the fudge in fudge bars to have different flavours inside the chocolate.
There are so many flavours of fudge available, and yet the only type of chocolate covered fudge bar is the plain variety.
Imagine how wonderful it would be to be able to buy a 'fudge' bar and have a choice of mint, or cherry, or strawberry, or orange, or whisky/rum/ champagne, or chocolate, or rum and raisin, or raspberry and vanilla, or any of the other varieties you can think of. I think that would be amazing.

I would put some jam into the middle of a Wagon Wheel. What's that you say? That thin line is jam! Well, I never...

I think a Topic with raisins (as well as, not instead of the hazelnuts) would be delish :p

I used to eat topic bars, but I got tired of finding bad Hazelnuts in them. It probably wasn't every one I had but it certainly started to feel like that, so topics were added to the list of chocolate bars that I think just aren't up to scratch any more.

How about a bounty bar... except with caramel and cherries? (Or would this AMAZING idea never survive the 80's?)

Bounty + caramel + cherries = Cabana, doesn't it?

Ooooh LOVE Cabana bars, I couldn't believe it when they stopped making them.

It would be awesome if they brought them back into production. Not sure what they'd taste like now though.

Love all of your replies - especially the flavoured fudge idea.

A few years ago, on this very forum, I suggested a 'Cadbury's Cream Egg bar' - and guess what? It happened!!  Someone at Cadbury's must have been reading this site!

I also once suggested a range of 'filled Flake' bars. How delicious would a Flake bar be with a filling of Turkish delight or mint cream - or something exotic like apricot cream or pineapple cream?

Surely a filled Flake would be technical nightmare!!! I know there are flavoured Flake's doing the rounds, but a filled one would be nigh on impossible.

How about Fry's just bring back Five Centres?

I think filled flake bars would be amazing, and a lot of fun to eat since I can always be guaranteed to make a real mess with a normal flake bar.  :D

How I wish Frys would bring back Five Centres.   :'(

I am starting to see a pattern to my posts. Never mind making new bars just bring back all the great old bars you stopped making and I'll be very happy. lol

It would be like a secret bar ;)     Why not have Caburys caramel with Cherrys instead :P

Why has no one created a Raspberry and Coconut Caburys bar?

How about they take a standard Yorkie bar... and just make it properly! Y'know, like they did 25 years ago.

How about a dark chocolate Snickers? I don't think it's ever been done, which is surprising given there's been more than one dark choc version of the Mars bar.

Even go back 15 years, or is that 20 years

I think thousands upon thousand of people would like to see Fry's Five Centres back - especially me!

Cadbury's Caramel with Cherries - what mixed in with the caramel - or just a cherry cream filled bar?

Dark chocolate Snickers would be great for the nut fans.

If a filled Flake bar would be difficult, what about a greater range of the Cadbury's Twister Bar? What about Twister Mint Cream or Twister Blackcurrant Cream or Twister Lime Cream?

Better still - why haven't any of the big chocolate companies produced a Rose and Violet cream range? I adore Rose and Violet creams from posh chocolate shops (even Thorntons did a bag of them - but no more). What about a Rose and Violet Cream Bar? Cadbuy's would be the best company to do this as Nestle and Mars chocolate is greasy and sickly these days.

They do the Snickers in dark chocolate in USA. They are lovely.

I think Cybercandy might stock them. :)

If I want something floral, I'll eat a bunch of flowers! I cannot stand anything to do with violets. Those awful violet things you used to get back in the day were just, er, awful!

How about William Curley's nostalgia range?

I wish they'd release a solid easter egg one year... you know, like the size of the big Cadbury one they do, but solid. Mmm.

Cool! Looks a little bit on the tiny side though. Still, at a tenner might be worth a whirl.

Fair enough, but - the violet cream fillings do not taste like those little violet sweets - rose and violet creams taste - well posh - and really nice.

I bet that solid egg is low on cocoa and high in sugar. I bet even the dark one is sweet. 400g for £10.00. Hmm, my cheap sensor is on high alert.
