Title: How was your weekend?
Post by: chocolate chick on February 20, 2012, 10:28:06 am
Hope you all had a good weekend.

I had a bit of sad news - my half brother died. I never actually met him but I knew of him and he had contacted me on facebook. I knew he was ill but to have heard that he had actually died feels weird.
We shared the same dad - he was my dad's son from his previous marriage.

so sorry for your loss, cc. even though, as you say, you didn't really know him very well it still must be a very sad time to lose someone who is connected to you like that. i have half brothers and sisters out there somewhere i've never met... it's a weird feeling knowing that a genetic part of you is out there somewhere going about their life.

and people always criticise facebook these days for all sorts of reasons, but it's put me in touch with a whole load of old buddies etc. who i wouldn't have normally ever had anything to do with again - so i think it's a good thing in all. it's also helped me rebuild many bridges.

once again, sorry for his passing. i'm guessing he wasn't very old so that makes it even more tragic.

He was 44. I only learned the other day that my dad is 70. Again I don't know my dad either. I am 27 BTW.
It is weird - I have a half sister out there too.

I think you just have to be sensible with facebook. I am in touch with a lot of old school friends again and it's great.

I am so sorry for your loss CC. How sad that you will never now meet your brother. I hope you make contact with your sister and meet up one day if that's what you wish for.
