I thought the new show was suitably scary for little ones but most children would be too grown-up to be frightened by walking manaquins and killer wheelie bins. The New Dr is distinctive and fresh but not whacky enough for me, but perhaps the character needs to develop and that will come out. Billy Piper is a good choice of assistant and provides a good sexual undertone, which I thought was intimated ever so slightly right at the end of the programme.
A sound start and I look forward to the rest.

I thought that scene was funny but rather silly. It was just too frivulous (?? how do you spell it???) for the real Dr. I mean the early episodes were just so intense and you were supposed to believe in the monsters.
My son, aged 18 and a hardened Dr Who fan, who has every episode that's still available and knows every story intimately (he sounds a right nerd but he's not) is "reserving judgement" but so far not too impressed.

Hmm, didn't notice this thread when I asked people what they thought of this in the other Dr Who thread. I thought it was ok, very tongue in cheek, but definitely room for improvement. Oldspice, did you and all your friends and family get behind the sofas for old times' sake?

i think there may be more of the same to come with future episodes. A mixture of humour and horror is what I predict.
By the way Oldspice - it's frivolous. You were nearly there.
