Title: X Factor 2011
Post by: oldspice on August 20, 2011, 09:05:30 pm
Well - it started tonight and I will probably watch for a few weeks then get bored.  The little boy who kicked it all off was rather sweet. The Irish girl at the end was amazing.

The judge Kelly - she's got neon teeth! If they turned off all of the lights in the O2 and she opened her mouth - she could light the stadium with her knashers! I was entranced by them!

i used to like this show. but it's now joined all the other reality/talent shows that i avoid on a weekly basis.

I'm surprised how much I like Tulisa so far - although I can't decide if she's attractive or not. I think Kitty Waissel will be the tabloid fodder for this year...

I always disliked Gary Barlow but all of a sudden i feel the urge to rip his clothes off.

I didn't think that big girl who sang 'Someone Like You' was quite as amazing as they made out.

Cher Lloyd is constantly on the radio and her song is so silly.  I agree smurfy that big girl was good but not as good as they all raved about her. I liked that young boy who fancied Tulisa. I thought he had a nice personality.

He was great, wasn't he?  It's refreshing to see a lad act all bashful and be so talented instead of swaggering on like jack-the-lad and performing like Nelli the Elephant

i completely lost interest in that show about the same time simon, after everything he had previously said, voted for jedward to stay over that lucie girl.

Does anyone else think they're getting really over-excited about some pretty average auditionees (I.e. soldier boy who sang 'Handbags and Gladrags')?

i think they axhausted any 'talent' in the first few years of this show.

Honestly i could not see what they were raving about. I didn't enjoy his singing at all.

morbid curiousity made me look this up on youtube. is this really what's passing for a good singer this year? he incorporated mumbling and shouting into one single performance. not impressed.

I didn't see much of the show this week except for the last girl on on Sunday night who sang Take Another Piece of My Heart. I thought she was very good. There have been some excellent performances but I do think that in a couple of cases, the judges raved about nothing in particular. Also, I saw a few really questionable performances (such as the guy who did Life on Mars looking like Ziggy Stardust's dish mop) get a very favourable response from the judges.

What does everyone think of the final 16? I reckon some real dross got through this year - the Groups category has become a farce, with people being swapped about left, right and centre, and the Overs category isn't much better; I didn't believe even Louis Walsh would put that Goldie woman through. And as for Kitty (obviously meant to be this year's Katie Waissel), I'm not sure she should even be allowed out on her own, never mind on TV.

Misha is my favourite - she's the only really different act; someone you'd actually sit up and take notice of. I can see that Janet girl winning though.

I haven't seen the final 16 but I hope some of those really original and talented voices didn't fall in favour of the oddballs.

I saw the end of the show last night and I am delighted to see that Sammy and Craig have got through. These are two superb performers who both look and sound fantastic despite not pandering to conventional ideas of popular singers. I would love to see them both enjoy successful careers without changing who they really are and i think they are both perfect.

What do we think of the 'big twist' vote-off? I think they all got it right apart from Kelly - I think she should've ditched Sophie. She did well on Saturday, but there's nothing special about her; nice girl, nice voice, but there's a reason Gary Barlow didn't even remember her from Bootcamp. She reminds me a lot of Cassie from Series 1 (both in looks and performance style). She's a sweet girl, but not a star.

Not sorry to see Nu-Vibe go. Gary picked poor songs for all his acts - he's going to realise pretty quickly that a 'cheeky chappy' personality and a cute(ish) face will only disguise Frankie's average voice for so long.

I have seen like half an hour of this years x factor. What is the drama with Kitty. I think she can really sing

Ive lost interest since my favourite Amelia left.   I really dislike Mischa B.
Choc chick i think it has something to do with when kitty was at bootcamp she sang to louis and sinitta then jumped into the pool with her dress on. she comes across as a bit of a fruit loop.

Oh I see. She can sing though. And the girl withthe long hair was good too.

She's as mad as cheese, but they're trying to make her into the new Katie Waissel and she's actually nothing like that.

It's all going over my head now.

I am more a strictly come dancing girl. Very sad to see the lovely Mr Lobb go at the weekend

I  am so sad to see Sammi go. She was a terrific singer with a lovely personality. By comparison, Kitty is just average and Mischa isn't even average.

I thought Frankie's performance was very poor this week. Even though the judges talked him up, he was rubbish. His voice isn't up to it and he is relying on his looks and cheeky reputation to get by. He is marketable - that's why the judges are keeping him in the competition - he's a commodity.

And what about Johnny? Well - he did a very good job of that rock song and he's a lovely man but never in a million years would I pay to see and hear him sing. He's a novelty act.

I don't know wether i will bother with the rest of the contest.

Like Chocolate Chick - I like Strictly - but they've GOT to get rid of that appalling Nancy!

my mum phoned me last night and said i didn't know what i was missing this year because some guy called johnny was thwe best contestant eve,. well, after a bit of arm twisting i went on youtube and looked him up... and oh dear me. is this what i'm missing? has x-factor even sunk even further than i first thought? why does anyone watch this stuff?

Nancy really does have to go now. Do you think there is any chance that they will bring the lovely Mr Lobb back??

I want Marcus or Johnny to win x factor.

Johnny certainly did a good job of 'That Old Devil Called Love' this week and he's such a sweetheart. The same cannot be said of that vain little man, Frankie - although i suppose his age is as much responsible for his behaviour than anything else. Vocally, Frankie is miles behind everyone else and I think it's only his cute looks and his marketability that's keeping him in the competition.

I felt deeply sorry for Sophie and the comments the judges made about her choice of song. It was a brilliant and brave performance of a difficult but original song.

Still - at least Nancy has been booted off of Strictly!

Glad to see the back of Sophie - she's just so dull. Amazed Mischa was in the bottom two as I think she's amazing; I wonder if the whole Tulisa row contributed to it. Frankie can't sing a note and needs to go ASAP. Marcus is my joint fave along with Mischa.

Frankie should have went last night. I'm shocked The Risk went, not shocked Johnny went and still would like Marcus to win. Oh and i do not understand a word Janet says.

Johnny was poor this week - but still a more worthwhile candidate than Frankie - who is a cocky little begger.  I didn't think Janet was that good vocally this week. That song showed up the weakenesses in her vocal range.

Well according to The Sun, Frankie has been axed over his 'antics'. No sign of any official confirmation though.

Janet is a weird one. They started out trying to sell her as a sweet little thing your granny would love; then it seemed as if the powers that be had decided she was boring and should be more 'feisty'. Now she seems like a bit of a madam and I think she may have lost her appeal with that older crowd.

So, farewell Craig. I think he paid the price for Gary Barlow's cockiness.

I disagree with Louis that 'Licence to Kill'' was a bad song choice - what went wrong was the arrangement. There are some potentially amazing notes in that song and Craig either didn't go for them or they were cut out altogether due to the song being truncated.

Craig was a great act and i hope he still has a great future in front of him

Marcus was the best by far this week. if there is any justice, he will win.
