I felt compelled to make a homemade rice pudding. I searched high and low in Morrisons for pudding rice. The young assistant I asked was most amused at the idea of rice being eaten for dessert but he found me a pack of the stuff (bless him) and it's in the oven now.
Am I getting old?
What's your favourite old-fashioned home-cooked pudding?
PS - Ben & Jerry's ice cream is £2 a tub in Morrisons!

I do like Rice pudding, I had some a while ago at my mate mums houses :P I like it with jam, I might try and get some.
-
Shall I send you some through the post?

Would is stay good going through post?

mmmm... i do like a nice home made rice pudding. (you can keep the skin though - that still freaks me out to this day.)
as for ben and jerry's... i had one of their newer flavours the other day (thanks to the £2 promotion.) i forget exactly what the gimmicky name was, but it was basically chocolate coconut with caramel crunchy bits. very nice indeed. (though i still think Phish Food is my fave.)

Rice pudding works perfectly well with long grain rice! And the skin's the best bit wjp. Not that I've made one for many a moon - I always remember the recipe I've got has a typo where it instructs you to 'pout over the rice' instead of pour. Always raises a smile when I think of it!
-
pouting over the rice will get you nowhere! lol.
i always remember my brother sat there munching on a massive bowl of pudding skin after the traditional sunday roast. euck! put my teeth right on edge it did!

At the risk of ridicule, I've always liked Spotted Dick. (Which my aunt used to insist on calling Spotted Dog out of embarrassment.)
-
Mmm - I love Spotted Dick too.

not a massive fan here, but it's edible so it gets my vote.
