Helloooo all,
I'm just interested to know your thoughts on some of the news stories - or rather non-news stories - doing the rounds at the moment. My theory is that the media wants something to report on other than the situation in North Africa and the Middle East, so is blowing non-stories up out of all proportion. Take the example of 'Fergie not invited to Prince William's wedding shocker'. Am I missing something here? Why would you invite someone your uncle was married to over 15 years ago? My sister's getting married two weeks before William and Kate, and funnily enough she hasn't invited the woman our cousin divorced in 1999 either - yet no one has dropped dead of shock.
The other story currently doing the rounds is that the Qatari Prime Minister has 'admitted' he doesn't understand football. Cue gasps of horror across the globe! How on earth will the country he runs be able to host the World Cup in 11 years time if he doesn't know the offside rule? Well I'm guessing the answer is 'pretty easily', seeing as he won't be refereeing the final, or coaching or playing for the national team. Wild idea, but perhaps people who actually do understand football will cover that? Somehow I doubt David Cameron is an expert on the rules of every single Olympic event, but no one has suggested pulling the plug on 2012 on that basis.
Is it just me, or are these so-called news stories just a sign of media desperation?
-
well, at least it keeps katie bloody price out of the headlines.
-
They seem to be going on about the situation in Libya, just not as much as they should.
What newspaper are you reading?
-
I laughed my boots off at the "Fergie not invited to the wedding" story. Who the f**k cares? From what I've seen of the wedding list it's going to be 'my big fat chavvy wedding' anyway! I wonder if Fergie's brats will go though? After all - they are William's cousins - oh boy - listen to me - as I give a toss!
I think another reason they keeping running the non-news stories is to keep our minds off the massive cuts being made to local services as well as worrying that - if we hear and see too much of what is going on in foreign parts - we might take to the streets and kick out our bunch of non-elected fat-cat carcasses!
-
I think you've hit the nail on the head there Oldspice!
-
ITN have confirmed Beatrice and Eugenie have been invited. There's a weight off all our minds.
My favourite news story this week is Nick Clegg 'forgetting' he's supposed to be in charge while Cameron's away. Fills you with confidence in the coalition doesn't it?
-
Ha! No doubt Cameron is in foreign parts making highly inappropriate speeches. The last time he did this was in Germany when he announced to the world that 'multi-culturalism hasn't worked' (thankfully he wasn't in Nuremberg). This was the same weekend tha the EDL was marching in highly multi-cultural Luton.
I didn't think it would be possible to dislike a politician as much as I disliked Thatcher but Cameron and his bunch (especially Eric Pickles and such like) have managed it comfortably in less than a year.
-
I think we should all form punk bands and have a good old shout about it!
-
Cameron seems to be deciding his policy on North Africa and the Middle East according to the latest updates on the BBC website. Suddenly he's making announcements about the world no longer standing for oppressive regimes and how 'the message is clear' that the likes of Gaddafi have to go. Funny that he didn't seem to give a toss a month ago, isn't it? Amazing what headline news will do.

screw all this important stuff! i just need to know if katie price and alex reid have been up to anything recently.
-
I want to see THOSE photographs!
-
I like that Beatrice and Eugenie are going to the wedding cos they wear hideous clothes and hats so something worth watching for.
I predict the queen will wear yellow.
-
i still have my souvenir mug from when his mum and dad got married.
-
Lasted longer than the marriage then...
Apparently Katie Price and Alex Reid still have 'benefits' to their relationship, despite being in the process of a divorce. Eeww.
-
Probably because Alex is a good photographer, no what I mean, nudge, nudge, wink, wink!

I think she'll wear a lavender colour. Nice to see you back Lou.

page one of the aol bulletins this morning... KATIE PRICE TWEETS ABOUT HER NEW BOYFRIEND... ALEX IS ENRAGED BY IT!
page rwo: PROBABLE NUCLEAR MELTDOWN IN JAPAN.
hmm.

The AOL 'news' team have this weird thing about Katie Price. They do nothing but criticise her and describe her as a publicity whore (albeit slightly more politely), yet there's a new article on her every move. She can't so much as eat a spam sandwich without it being the top story on their celebrity channel.

today AOL are whining on about the new itv drama based on the exploits of fred and rose west. people in the comments are appalled that this could ever be made, saying it's in poor taste. this causes confusion with me, because i am struggling to think of one other serial killer story that hasn't already been adapted for the small or big screen.
(useless fact: back in the mid-90's, some guy in swindon town centre tried to sell me a brick from the west's house for £20. i passed on the oppertunity.)
-
Had Fred West signed it? It'd be worth a mint now!
-
i was dubious of the authenticity... he had a whole bag of them, and claimed he helped demolish the house. the house was close to where i was staying at the time, so who knows.
-
TODAY ON AOL... THIS JUST IN...
katie price is strongly denying allegations that she has propsed marriage to her new boyfriend, but sources are saying othersise.
well which one is it, katie? how am i meant to enjoy the rest of my saturday without knowing one way or the other? this has really put a dampener on my whole existance.
-
Do you know I'm wearing a pair of boots that have outlived both of KP's marriages and the gap in between.
-
TODAY ON AOL...
there are rumours that katie price's new boyfriend is only just using her and plans to dump her soon!
oh no! well, there goes my sunday in a flurry of anxiety and worry.
(i really need to change my homepage!)

Ah, that would explain the indignant headline I spotted on front of the Daily Mail (where else?) the other day: WHY DO WE GLAMORISE SERIAL KILLERS? Ironically the picture was of Rose West. The first and, I'm pretty confident to assume, the last time Rose West's picture will ever be used in an article concerning glamour.

TODAY ON AOL... IS KATIE'S FAKE TAN OVER THE TOP?
(sigh...)

Here's some news. Did you hear they've stopped production of the iPad for children? They thought calling it the iTouch Kids was asking for it.
