The Pope's visit?
Isn't the Catholic Church rich enough to pay?
Has anyone booked tickets to see him?
-
I wouldn't see the Pope in a million years, let alone pay for it. The Vatican is responsible for so many cover ups, especially when it comes to child abuse, it beggars belief. I'm an Athiest anyway...
-
I think it's disgraceful. Even a staunch Catholic friend of mine says that the Vatican should sell one of their treasures (it would be a tiny proportion) to finance the trip.

i have no interest in a child molesting nazi. (there - i said it!)

Best Quote come form a Preist!
Since the last visit, Morals in UK have fallen, its hope this visit will be able to .. you can see where this has gone...
ejets!

So I take it that members of the Forum will not be forming a welcome committee??
Now we have one of his sidekicks saying that Britain is a 'third world country'. If that's the case perhaps British Catholics should stop sending their hard-earned cash to the Vatican.
-
Third world country is a term we no longer use; it's developing country now. They can't even get that right.
-
If the Catholics are so desperate to see him, let them pay. I don't see why I should pay out a massive proportion of my income in tax if it's going to spent on a luxurious state visit for a religious zealot who peddles the line that someone like me should burn for eternity.

For all the fuss they are making about this great honour bestowed on us by his visit - you would think he had travelled from Mars instead of a few hundred miles away.
At a time when the government is talking about slashing benefits to the most vulnerable - taking away winter fuel allowances and making hundreds of thousands of people redundant - it is an insult to ask the British tax payers to fund this visit that could easily be paid for by the church.
Whilst washing up last night - I actually heard a 'sister of something-or-the-other' on the radio claiming that the Catholic Church had done more for human rights than any other organisation. I nearly fell down my own plug hole.
-
well said indeed.

Great honour? Really? I think it's about time they sacked the Vatican, sold all the riches and put it all to better use!
-
Has the pope been ?
-
Yes, and I couldn't put the rifle together in time. Bugger!
-
there are a distinct lack of grassy knolls in this country for times like this.

I've always thought popes have real crap fashion sense.
