Apparently Waitrose are selling ostrich eggs for £18 each. They say (they being the reporter in the sun) that 1 ostrich egg is equivalent to 24 chicken eggs.
Anyone fancy an omelette?

I've had ostrich egg when I was in South Africa and can't say it tasted any different to one made from chicken eggs. I wonder how you're supposed to get into them if you buy one to eat though - they're so strong you can stand on them!

According to Gino Di Campo's recipe one ostrich egg makes enough scrambled egg for two people.
I have seen large, dark blue eggs for sale at a farmers' market. I thought they were from peahens but I just googled peahen eggs and they are not blue. So I wonder what they were, any ideas?

Mt italian friend said he could make an omelette for 50 people with 1 ostrich egg!!
-
Is he the messiah?
-
no he is just a very depressed man on the verge of a breakdown who is desperately trying to drum up some business before he loses his restaurant....yesterday he was considering opening a brothel!
-
He doesn't want to do that. That's exploitation.
-
what this country needs is more brothels!
-
Indeed...
