Title: Sorry, we dont do easter, expect for this year
Post by: Forth Bridges on March 18, 2010, 10:43:45 pm: Easter is coming, but it if you live north of the borders, its business as usels for most people.

Good friday is only taken partly in Scotland, but for the first time in many years Easter Monday will be a holiday in Scotland: reason why?

Many places have the First Monday in April of instead, and it falls on Easter Monday

The whole point of Easter, is to celebrate the rising from the dead of Our Lord. I am sure that up and down Scotland on Easter Sunday, thousands of people will 'do' Easter by going to church and then having a nice Sunday lunch with friends and/or family.

Easter Monday? Well for thousands of people 'down here' it will be just another day, including for my daughter, who is a paramedic and who will be on duty all day. Myself, I'll be marking dozens of essays.

I can tell you that many place in Scotland do not take Good friday off. and the same goes for Easter monday

we dont. Easter is not a major hoilday up here, and I always went back to school on Easter Monday

That's just the way it is in the hotel industry and I long ago stopped moaning about it. I will be enjoying the rest and trying not to eat too much chocolate.

What resting and shopping? Well, what are you moaning for??

My daughter will be working (paramedic) but my son, husband and I will be enjoying a day off.
