The new series kicks off this Saturday. Who's going to be watching??
-
Yep, I guess so. The early rounds have a certain voyeuristic charm.
-
Yes I shall. I heard they are holding the auditions in front of a live audience instead of just the panel of judges (much like they do on Britain's Got Talent.) I hope this will help get the best singers and not just the ones with the most interesting (sob) stories.
Apparently Kate Moss is going to be helping Louis Walsh choose the finalists in his category!
-
I can't believe it's that time of year again already! I'll still watch though ;)
-
I know what you mean Smurfy. One season is hardly midway through before another is being forced on us. Once upon a time the kids went back to school, then the football season started, then it was last night of the proms and soon after that Chritmas cards started to appear. Nowadays the football season starts whilst most people are still on holiday, back to school signs and stock start as soon as the kids break up for the summer and the Christmas cards appear the day after the kids go back to school.
The arrival of X Factor has already got me thinking about Christmas.
-
I definitely won't be watching. I've never watched X Factor, ever!
-
The arrival of X Factor has already got me thinking about Christmas.
It makes me think of Saturday night in front of the TV eating fish and chips ... that's the way it has been since Noel's House Party!!!
-
i'll be watching. it's like a car crash.
-
Round here, Christmas cards have been on sale since July....
-
There were some really good acts last night! The girl who sang 'What a Wonderful World' (Stacey) and the chap who performed 'With a Little Help From my Friends' (Daniel) were exceptional (although I was a bit suspicious about Daniel as they provided a full backing track and his performance looked rehearsed and it came last so the show ended on a high note).
Sad to see the plump Emma back with her even plumper sister as they really must accept (and so must their parents) that they cannot sing.
-
I can say that Glasgow was a PURE SHAM!! original, there were no other people, and simon change it and had to go back to glasgow, but there only brought back a few good and bad.
-
stacey and daniel were both awesome. really not sure about the new format, though.
-
I went off Danyl a bit when I saw the spelling of his name. I'd like to believe that's how his parents spelled it, but I can't help thinking he's just a plain old Daniel who wanted to sound more exciting in his bid for stardom.
-
He's certainly a very good singer but I can't quite believe he just walked out of the queue, last by chance, and put on a performance like that at random. He didn't just have backing music, he had a full backing track and it all seemed rather contrived.
However, Stacey was fantastic and so personable without any schmuck. I hope she goes a long way.
-
Did you like Danni's hair?
-
The guy with the afro was good tonight. Stole the show
-
Did you like Danni's hair?
Yes, but it makes her look a bit 'mumsy'.
-
The guy with the afro was good tonight. Stole the show
He was quite good - but not the best on the show tonight. The black girl from Trinidad was amazing. The girl group who sang the Brittany Spears song were fantatstic (did a great job of the song, I thought) and there were a couple more reasonable performers.
There were also a couple of atrocious acts, among them the two girls who called themselves 'The Stunners' and who could sing a note between them.
-
they gave some dubious 'yes's' on last nights show. they really are lowering the bar on this series.
-

I thought the same. There were some who were really out of tune and yet three of them voted yes. I'm not surprised Simon was looking at them as though they'd totally lost their sense of pitch. I liked the girl band too and I couldn't care less about Danni's hair but she irritated me the way she kept welling up. Does she always do that? I've never seen X Factor before and already I'm addicted!
-
We had the first 'sob story' last night. Danni and Cheryl almost melted when they heard that one.
I'd love some bloke to go on and when they ask him "What do you do and what's been happening in your life?" I'd love him to say "I'm a farmer and my wife, Lucille, recently left me.
I've got four hungry children to feed and a field full of crops".
-
So what do we think of the final 12? I think Dannii was the only one who made all the right choices. Simon was right to take Danyl and Jamie Afro, but I don't think Olly's good enough; either of the girls would've been better. But the worst choice has to be those vile twins; even though I knew from the minute Louis got the groups he'd put them through, I was still hoping against hope he might have an attack of good sense at the last minute.
-
i was quite happy with all the decisions, bar one - those annoying bloody twins. they CAN NOT sing! and i don't know why louis thinks being arrogant and completely irritating passes for character.
-
I don't think it's their singing talent that Louis is interested in.
-
INDEED!
-
What a great competition Saturday / Sunday, in particular I liked the over 25s and thought it was a shame some of them had to go home over, let's say, some of the groups. I would have picked Nicole over Olly though.
In Cheryl's group I would have picked Dwayne over Joseph.
And as for those awful twins, I would have chosen any of the other groups, maybe the harmony hood or the other two boys (despite the one with the beard who didn't seem up to much at Louis' house audition.) Come to think of it, I would have picked the stunners ober those twins!
-
I see there's a "we hate John and Edward " group on facebook.lol
-
i'll have to join that!
-
I think there's a lot joining.
-
38,591 members so far :)
-
I haven't seen the show for a few weeks but Nicole, who was sent home last weekend, is from Peterborough is is already a local celebrity as she used to sing with her late father in local pubs. Of course, a member of JLS is also from Peterborough so it's X Factor crazy up here!
-
I see there's a "we hate John and Edward " group on facebook.lol
One of my schoolfriends set it up!
-
Can he set up "lets kill john and edward" ?
-
What did you think of Dannii's comment to Danyl? To be honest I thought exactly the same thing she did when he changed 'man' to 'girl', but no way would I have actually said it in her position.
-
Everyone has to be so careful about what they say these days. It's so easy to offend. People should be more sensitive and think about what they are saying. That goes for what they are saying to everyone, regardless of their race, gender etc. Someone said to me recently "Don't you find teaching a strain at your age? Why don't you retire?". That person was a 35 year old academic with a Phd! I was quite offended. I am only 52 and don't even look it (most people think I'm about 45).
-
can anyone believe those evil twins survived the public vote?
-
no
-
This is the British public you are talking about. An uneducated, culture-free, tasteless bunch of couch tomatoes.
-
Get back in your TARDIS, you cretin!
-
I think it was one of two things - either Louis's acts got a few sympathy votes because of poor Stephen Gately, or people want to keep the twins in for a few weeks for car crash quality.
-
people want to keep the twins in for a few weeks for car crash quality.
Yeah, like with Rhidian.
-
I wish Twit and Twat would fall off the stage of lose their words then cry.
-
can you imagine the x-factor voice-over guy saying 'twit and twat'? i'd love to hear that!
-
I think the twins are appealing to the british appetite for bear baiting. The public should not be allowed to vote. It is spoilong the show. Leave it to the panel.
-
you can never trust the british public.
-

That would probably be a better show, but it won't happen as the public vote is a huge money-spinner.
So last night - was Whitney on something or just nervous? She must still be a bit unpredictable if Clive Davis wouldn't let her do the show in her own.
-
I'm so pleased freaky Miss Frank have been voted off.
-
yes, they were over-rated. very shocked to see danyl up for the chop though!
-
I'd like to see a Stacey and Afro-boy (sorry, what's his name, is it Jamie??) final but as I haven't seen it for a few weeks I don't even know if they're still both in it!
-
I thought it was the weakest week yet and thought Jamie was remarkably subdued, given that the rock theme should have seen him shine. Bizarrely, I though the twins were sort of OK. They're entertaining at least, even if vocally inept.
-
Danyl should have gone last night. He sang most of his song in completely the wrong key. Of course he made the standard 'problem with the equipment, I couldn't hear the track properly' excuse but I don't buy it. He'd been rehearsing that song all week; surely he knew what key the backing track/band would be playing it in?
-
You're right Smurfy. I just caught the end of the show - the sing off - and he was completely flat.
-
With Joe being from up here our local north east news gives him a mention most nights. The other night there was an article on about a baby from Newcastle needing to go for a life saving operation in America costing £500,000 . The parents had raised £375,000 and Simon Cowell tipped up the remaining £125,000 . The presenters made some comment about Cheryl Cole having the number one single and album and i felt a lot of people would wonder why she had not donated to the cause being a fellow geordie.
-
I watched both shows from comfort of TARDIS lasts night and have to say, a few mixed feelings. From the beginning I thought Lucie would be in the mix up at the end. She seemed to have genuine talent and a sweet voice. However, as the competition has progressed she has been found out to have a limited range and a little lack of oomph! Shame. Nice girl.
It was a strange twist after all that he's said, that Simon saved the twins. I was one of their knockers early on, but have to admit they're growing on me. We all know they're not top drawer vocally, but have an undoubted talent for showmanship, which can be nurtured and maybe with voice coaching...
I thought Stacey was OK, this week. I think she's got one or two really big performances left in her and is my tip for the title. Jaimie seems to have reined himself in a bit and maybe needs that big sound from the early shows. As to the rest. Forgettable.
The Doc
-
I don't have a particular favourite myself; haven't done since the year Leona won really. I can see Olly and Joe making it to the final. Stacey gets on my nerves and I don't think she's that amazing.
-
i lost all faith in simon when he didn't vote the twins out. he did this solely for ratings and controversy - and he's normally the first one to remind everybody it's a 'singing' contest. i truly believe this will annoy the x-factor fanbase in the long run, and will make people switch off. we shall see.
-
So, Jamie Afro, one of my favourites has gone. I hope he is able to follow a singing career despite going out of X Factor. He has lots of talent and seems modest and pleasant to me.
-
he was our fave. such a shame the voting public can't be trusted this year.
-
Well if those twatty twins end up winning, there's no justice.
-
if they win i genuinely wont be watching next year.
-
I think Jamie had a poor choice of song to perform on Saturday, which left him 'vulnerable' as Simon would say. However, he was clearly the better singer in the sing off and shouldn't have gone home. The public vote is just a lottery. I think Stacey Solomon is head and shoulders above the rest, but if the twins win I wont be entirely surprised.
-
They just didn't really know what to do with Jamie Afro. He mostly performed well, but he always looked really uncomfortable during the Sunday night group performance. He seemed too old compared to the others, but not old enough to make people think 'this is his last chance, give him a shot' as I think a lot of voters did for the likes of Rowetta, Nicki Evans etc.
-
Jamie was also vulnerable because he sang first in the competition. By the time all the other acts had performed people forgot about Jamie.
-
well, in my opinion everyone was below par tonight. and it was the twins weakest performance yet (and that's saying something) - surely their time is up now?
-
I only saw Stacey sing and I thought she was really good.
-
It was a pretty bland week I thought - no one was awful, but no one really shone either. I can't see a clear winner.
-
Is it true the twins went though?
-
the twins are HISTORY! yay!
-
I thought Stacey was awesome and yet the reviews were luke warm. She can be my next assistant. A little kosher cuisine would go down very well in TARDIS!
-
Yea, but the level of conversation might drop a bit too innit? he he he he
-
I thought Stacey was mediocre at best
-
Actually, looking back on some old TOTP videos from the 70s, it makes you really just how high the standard is on X Factor.
The following clip is of a chart-topper from a group that achieved huge, if short-lived success and, to be honest, the quality of the singing AND the choreography is pitiful:
Our Kid - You Just Might See Me Cry [totp2] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=407lClqOlUI&feature=related#normal)
-
ouch!
-
Is anyone else taking a real dislike to Dermot O'Leary? He's getting very stroppy with the judges and comes across as cocky as a result. He should remember Simon has a habit of replacing people who piss him off...
-
I've always thought he is twat
-
I prefer when Kate Thornton was the host.
I love Stacey and Ollie and am sick now of Joe who seems to be bookies favourite to win. Everywhere i go here it's vote Joe. Even the tyne tunnel is lit up with a vote for Joe sign.
-
Probably because he's the only one with a decent voice! Try listening to Stacey without watching her and you'll realise how weak she is.
-
But it isn't just a singing competition is it. It's the all round x factor and Joe hasn't got it.
-
So, Stacey, my favourite, has gone. What a shame. She was MILES better than Olly.
For me, now, it has to be Joe.
-
For me it was always Joe.
-
so stacey's gone - i'm gutted. now it's a choice of bland or bland.

How many votes each person got, and there ARE surprise with them, especial between olly and jeward in week 7

I was delighted to see Joe win. Even though Stacey was my favourite, Joe was definitely a deserving winner. Well done Joe!
-
in 2 years from know he'll be the same as leon jackson.
-
.......who ever he is.....
-
In 6 months no one will remember Joe but people will remember Olly. I see Cheryl looked her usual mess again. She needs some style tips from Danni.
-
I feel that both Danni and Cheryl are good role models for young people though. They are doing something positive in developing talent and both of them are kind and tactful.
Didn't you like Joe Lou?
-
I thought Joe was a good looking young man with an excellent voice but if I was watching him on tv and he was singing 3 songs I would be bored half way through the second one . I want him to move a bit more and not just stand on the one spot. Who knows, perhaps next time we see him he will have learnt a few moves.
My friend has just texted me and asked me if I am in town today could I pick her up 5 copies of Susan Boyles CD. Apparently it is very good so she is giving it out for Christmas presents. Hope one copy isn't for me.
-
I heard a programme when they were trying to find people who'd bought the Susan Boyle CD and nobody would admit to it, even though it's No. 1. Perhaps everyone's buying it for their grannies.
-
I hope RATM destroy X Factor's chances of yet another Xmas No.1
-
i was hoping the muppets would beat both of 'em. (but i'd settle for Rage over joe.)
-
Yes, the Muppets version of Bohemian Rhapsody is great!
-
The Muppets: Bohemian Rhapsody (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgbNymZ7vqY#normal)
Anyways THE SO CALLED No1 is RATM
-
so happy that Rage beat that x-factor tat to number one. screw you, cowell!
-
Yep, nice to see a No.1 that isn't X Factor tat. Cowell can go jump off a bridge into a very deep river!
-
Yeah that's his punishment for inflicting Mr Blobby on us all those years ago.
-
Did you know If I put a bet on No1, ( £100) I would have made £10'000
Mr. Blobby Music Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h37KQu64RY4#normal)
I like that song!
