Green Shield Stamps?
Anyone got anything in their home bought with Green Shield Stamps?
-
I remember esso tokens... does that count?
-
Green shield stamps were a long time ago. I remember my mam sticking them into the books and collecting them so we had so many my dad took us to Stockton to the shop where you could exchange them for all sorts of stuff. The shop was a bit like Argos and I remember my mam got some Pifco curling tongs , some kitchen knives, a carpet sweeper and a whole load of kitchen stuff . I got some stickle bricks.
My dad used to smoke and collected the Embassy cigarette coupons. Every so often he bundled them up, sent them off and a week later my mam would have a new pan set :)

How many pan sets did she end up with?

She kept throwing them away because she blamed them for our dinners always being burnt. In the end she had to go to the shops and buy some decent ones then the truth came out that she was just a rubbish cook.

I remember Green Shield Stamps very well (I used to be given the thrilling job of sticking the things in the books!) and when I cleared my Mum's house out last year there was an orange suitcase that I clearly remembered getting with the stamps.

We've got some tupperwear boxes, which my Mu bought with GSS. I think Britin started to go down hill when they went out.

We didn't have green shield stamps but we collected so many things with the Esso tiger tokens. I remember having a huge amount of glasses from the tokens, also we had soup bowls, mugs and even a calculator!

You've still got them?

Yes, tupperwear boxes don't wear out. She uses them to store cakes in, when she bakes.

I wish i could bake but i'm hopeless even with a recipe.
