Title: Will you pay for a Disney carrier bag?
Post by: loulou on March 01, 2009, 02:47:53 pm
As from March the Disney store will be charging for a carrier bag. I suppose we will have no choice unless we want to tuck that giant eeyore under our arm. As the Disney bag is advertising their shop is it right we pay?

Disgusting, this company manipulates its share prices by creating an artifical shortage on the lines that they sell.

Whenever Disney release a classic the share price goes up because they are going to be a sell out and share holders and traders want to take advantage and mage a bit of wedge off the back of another company.

Asking people to pay for something that is going to have their name plastered all over it... Geeez.

What is it with thes comapnys and their ethics?

I use those 10p bags for life and carry them from shop to shop. They flatten down well and you can get a couple in your handbag. When they get too shabby the shops (Waitrose or M&S) just give you a new one.

I'd never buy a Disney carrier bag. I detest the Disney corporation. It turns people into morons. (With all due repect to you lou). A cousin of mine took his three children (aged 14, 12 and 2) to Disney Paris. They spent a whole five days in Paris INSIDE the Disney park. They never even went to see the Eiffel Tower. They go to fabulous holiday destinations and spend the whole time inside the resorts eating pizza and egg and chips. They never go and explore the local culture or go and see great cities, buildings, galleries or anything. I'm embarrassed to be related to him at times and, once again, I have to say these people bring out the snob in me.

I love them too but have to resist at my age! At least Disney did not invent Eeyores.

Yea, but Paulham, I bet you saw something else of Florida too? Tell me you didn't stay in the Disney park the whole time? Anyway, your kids are little aren't they? Not 14 and 12??

Not much, Oldspice. We had a 7 day pass for WDW and a 14 day one for Universal Studios.
Walmart and Target were nice.
True my boys are only 5 and 8.
I didn't go to Florida to see it really. America in general doesn't appeal personally.
I've done WDW Paris too but stayed North of it the first week.
Never went into Paris though.
Those bloody French drivers!

Bet the kids loved it Paulham.  I'm not that bothered about going to the USA - except for New York. I'd like a few days there because I love architecture and I'd  also like to see some of the art galleries and the theatres.

I'm not much of a traveller. I like short city breaks or short breaks in the countryside (Peak District, Lakes etc).  I've been to Paris and Florence which were lovely, Lille which was OK and I've travelled around Switzerland (when I was about 12 or 13) and I've been to Majorca (before it became really commercial) and Tennerife. I wouldn't hurry back to Tennerife - for a start the journey was too long and I don't know how I'll cope with a flight to New York!

I will have to dig up the info on a study group that showed kids fed a diet of disney were more immature than a group not fed disney crap.

In otherwords, Disney slows mental development down so that kids who foucus on disney programming, ends up being detrimantal in the long term.

These children go on to have further coping problems with reality.

So yes DT T, your right, Disney IS evil.

Yeh, and I was told wanking would make me go blind.
Admittedly I wear glasses but I can see fine and my vision hasn't deteriorated in the last 5 years.

Yes I have a pair...

As for Disney, if you want to open you mind and search the internet, you will find all sorts of studies on negative effect, rasisim, gender & stereo typing, amongst the issues rasied about Disney, Disney product, Disney merchandising, TV advertising, the list goes on and on and on.

The article I have just read is about the psycology and gneder typing of women in disney films and animations. I am not about to post a lecture on this but if you want to research this yourself you actually may be sruprised at how insideous disney really is.

Nasty stuff that water.
Anything else if you want to go look.

People need to relax and perhaps get out more. Worrying over stuff you cannot change is not good for you.

I don't worry about things I can not change, it would be silly of me to think that I alone would make a difference, what I can do is open peoples eyes to the facts.

What I do worry about is the fact that when its presented to them, they can not handle it, deny it, do not care because theyre a NIMBY, unless its on their doorstep, they just don't give a *hit.

Ask yourself if you would work a solid 12 hour day with no breaks for day for 30p? I dobut it. So next time you buy a nice outfit or an M&S pie, remember that pie or outfit could be buying a bullet that kills a child in another country, a bit simplistic I know but it highlights the truth that corporations & high street shops here, in europe and the USA all in some way fuel modern slavery & conflict.

Classic example, it was known for along time that McDonalds used to proactively fund the IRA in donations. Big buisness funding conflict and human misery.

You only have to open your eyes to see the truth.

Some people out there prefer not to see the bigger picture, thinking that they'll be long gone before the shit hits.  But, there're always future generations to think of.  Buy more anarcho-punk, that's what I say!

It's because Disney are evil!  Have I mentioned that?  Also, most of their films are sanatised crap!  The only ones I like are 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, Escape To Witch Mountain, Dragonslayer, Tron, The Black Hole and Toy Story 1 & 2!
