Starting the day on an egg could keep your blood pressure in check, research suggests.
Scientists have shown that eggs produce proteins that mimic the action of powerful blood pressure-lowering drugs.
The finding comes a few days after a study exploded the myth that they can increase the danger of heart attacks.
It now appears that eggs may be good for the heart, lowering blood pressure in the same way as Ace inhibitors, prescription-only pills taken by millions around the world.
The drugs lower blood pressure by stopping the hormone angiotensin narrowing the body's blood vessels.
I once read more than 5 eggs a week was bad for the cholestorol so if I have omelette or scrambled egg (usually made with 3 eggs) for breakfast on a Sunday morning I avoid eggs for the rest of the week.

An egg mashed up in a cup with a little salt and butter is my choice one day at the weekend. Lovely.
My youngest enjoys a boiled egg with soldiers.

I like toasted soldiers with a boiled egg.

I am being treated for high blood pressure and high cholesterol and have been told not to eat more than two eggs a week. I don't really eat a high fat diet at all (except for chocolate bu I don't eat loads of it). I would not normally eat more than two anyway. Sometimes I have an egg and cress sandwich at lunchtime and may have poached eggs on toast for supper about once a fortnight.
