Dear Mr *****
Thank you very much for your email.
Unfortunately we had to withdraw Cabana bars from our range some years ago as
they were expensive to make and sales were relatively low. It was a difficult
decision for us because we are proud of all our products and do not like to
disappoint our consumers. As far as we know, the brand teams have no plans at
present to re-introduce this line however, we will pass your request on to them.
Thank you once again for taking the time and trouble to contact us. We hope you
will continue to enjoy our products in the future.
Yours sincerely

sigh... i'm still confident they'll come to their senses one day.
-
what we need to do is organise a sit in on Isobels front lawn.
-
That my friend is known in the industry as a bull shit half truth.
Expensive to make my ass, Cabana Bars, MMMMMMM MMMMMMM MMMMMMore please.
The real reason will be to do with this "Pea Nut" group, although cabana bars had coconut, it was the cherries in them that were the problem.
So when they actually TELL THE TRUTH, you can email them and praise them for their honesty but for now, email them back and tell them that you posted the reply in a web forum and you have had someone point out the truth and that they should STOP TELLING LIES.
What it would mean if they did bring them back is to produce them in another factory so that ingredients for the bars will not come in to contact with other products and ingredients for other product, so yes, this is the "Expensive" bit in the email.
-
the way i look at it, there's a lot of old sofas in the world. somewhere, someone is bound to be sitting atop an old Cabana bar, long lost in the confines of the frame. and when it's eventually found - i'll be waiting on ebay.
-
wjp write back and ask them if it is the fault of the cherries.
-
What did the cherries do?
-
When I asked the local Tech college canteen about why they stopped selling cherry flapjacks... That was the reason.
The humble cherry belongs to the same family as Almonds, in other words they belong to the Nut family.
-
Netbuddy, what were you doing at the tech college?
-
Am I the only person in the universe who hated Cabanas?
-
Almost certainly
-
Netbuddy, what were you doing at the tech college?
I "WAS" at night school studying an MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) course in Network Administration. This as usual ended up with no exam because the college pulled course funding because 1 person didn't turn up.
-
So, it was back to cannabis corner for netbuddy! :D

You cannot be serious.
-
Yes, 100%. My wife remembers them with a look of disgust as well.
-

Cherries are not a declared allergen in the food labelling regulations that impose restrictions on the labelling of food products.
I can see however the link to almonds but even the anapylaxis organisation of the UK doesn't mention them.
They just cannot be arsed making them would be a more truthful answer.
-
I think Nestle has a REAL CHEEK claiming they are 'proud of all our products' as they never developed Cabanas - Rowntrees did. Nestle took perfectly good bars such as Toffee Crisp, KitKat, Lion Bar, Yorkie Bars etc and turned them into CACK. If they're proud of that they must have absolutely no respect for their customers at all.

I never tried one but think they sound absolutely revolting.
-
Trust me, they were delicious.
-
They weren't bad at all.
-
No, they were definitely vile!
-
I could eat a whole box of them.
-
I could eat a whole crate of them :)
-
if only there were more people eating them like us they would never have stopped making them.
-
At the time I don't recall anything out there that was as nice.
-
Golden Cup. Mind you, Ive always been a big fan of a Golden Cup.
-
Me too.
-
So cherrys are not fruits?
-
Nope, Cherries are members of the nut family.
Well the nut allergy argument just flew out the window... http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2009/feb/20/nut-allergy-cure
So next time you write to nestle, you can cite the site... Now thats one objection that they can not argue with.
-
if only there were more people eating them like us they would never have stopped making them.
Exactly, and there weren't because they were vile!

No, not exactly, more a question of Marmite factor, you lov it or hate it.
-
Well, in that case, more people found Cabana's vile. Hence their early death. Kappish?
-
It's a matter of taste and some of us have it and others don't.
-
I agree, its like a tone deaf person singing in the shower / bath and then trying out for X-fackitup because the have the notion that they got tallent will travel.
-
There's a girl works in my local chippy and she has an application for the next X Factor. I doubt she can sing very good and she certainly doesn't have the X Factor.
