Apricot Crumble or Cranberry and Granola, 99p for a big bar at Home Bargains :P
Hopefully this isn't a bad sign for their future; HB often seem to have popular brands cheap as well as end of line products, so fingers crossed.
-
I think so, Smurfy. I have seen loads of them on sale in supermarkets without any real sign of activity on the shelves.
The public are just too stuck in their predictable ways.
-
They sold out really quickly in our local Sainsbury's - but then again that could have been the initial excitement of something new.
If this is a bad sign, you won't be pleased to hear Galaxy Dark is 49p a bar at HB at the mo :(
-
It wouldn't surprise me if it is struggling too.
-
Most of the new Cadbury bars disappear - remember the almond and honey one, the orange chips, the mint chips....etc.
-
I liked none of those Kev because of the Cadbury choc. Too sour for my taste with those flavours.
Let's be honest Toblerone pisses over just about anything that imitates it.
-
That's true but it begs the question - why did release them? They must have some intuition of what will work and what won't.
-
But at the same time people are moaning that there is no innovation in the chocolate market - at least they're trying.
-
Yes but were they really all that innovative?
-
Name something similar on the market from a big name manufacturer.
-
Almond and honey CDM - Toblerone.
Mint chips CDM - Mingles.
Orange chips CDM - Orange Crunch in Quality street.
The last two aren't bars admittedly but it isn't that difficult to see the link.
-
What about the fruit bars?
-
Oh no. If you mean the granola and cranberry and apricot crumble ones, I agree with them being a bit out of the ordinary and I did applaud Cadbury upon their launch.
I just got sick of the CDM with........range (did you? you never told us that before ;) ).
-
Depends how you think of it. As for the cranberry one, it's essentialy a fruit and biscuit bar. They can call it granola but it's pretty much the same. The apricot one is just another variation. I suppose it can be argued that using cranberries or apricots instead of just raisins is 'innovative' but only in that the likes of Nestle or Mars haven't done it yet. To me that doesn't mean innovation.

So what would? (That's not sarcasm, it's a honest question.)
-
How about a layer of chopped caramelised almonds and cherry pieces encased in solid chocolate with a middle layer of vanilla mallow and an upper layer of caramel, all wrapped in milk chocolate?
-
That would never work...
-
Why not ??? ?
-
Sounds far too nice!

Actually you got me there.
Mind you what Paulham said sounds nice. With innovation I'm thinking of exotic flavour combinations and different textures. An example could be: a layer of wafer, a layer of fruit and nut, topped with a layer of caramel or something else gooey.

Apricot Crumble or Cranberry and Granola, 99p for a big bar at Home Bargains :P
Two for £1.50 now - good in one way, bad in another. That said, earlier this year HB had CDM Double Choc at 39p for a big 250g slab, and lots of it too, and that's still going strong.
