Title: Cadbury Dairy Milk Snack
Post by: cleverdick on November 04, 2008, 06:07:33 pm
What you get.... Depends where you are!

In Oz, DMS is a really old-school multi-centred fondant bar, made with creamy Dairy Milk (just how it used to be here), and with each segment shaped according to its filling.  Worth checking out for sure.

In South Africa, the product of the same name is nothing more than a plastic-wrapped 'raisin and biscuit' bar, none too remarkable (in my view) and just like the UK Cadbury's.

I beg to differ about Australian Dairy milk tasting how it used to here - I think it's absolutely disgusting.  Having said that, I rather like the Snack Bar.  The fillings drown out the nastiness of the chocolate (especially the pineapple).

I agree, Aussie Dairy Milk just tastes wrong. It should be nice; they use all milk and no veggie fat, but there's something really weird about it. I can't vouch for the entire history of CDM, obviously, but it's certainly never tasted like that in the UK in the last 30 years.

Well, I liked Golden (Violet) Crumble and it didn't even have chocolate on it, so there is no point in me offering any opinion!

Not in 40 years either IMHO.  I also agree that Aussie CDM is horrible.

Ah..well some of you may recall this. Some years ago i bought the aussie Snack Bar and ate it live on the forum giving my opinion as i went. When i ordered it i had high hopes as i was led to believe it would take me back to the days of the milk tray bar..it didnt. It wasnt particularly nice and if i remember rightly, the caramel segment was one of the worst choc experiences of my life.

I've got one.  I've been chucking things in it for over six months now and the stuff still looks exactly the same as when it went in.  Somebody told me it needed red worms but they don't seem to sell them in Sainsburys....
