Today I bought a Caramac 40p, Maltesers 36p, Minstrels 42p, Turkish Delight 50p (almost passed out at that one),Toffee Poppets 36p, Mars big one 42p, Milky way 2 bar 31p,Toffee crisp 36p. I think the prices don't match the quantity or quality.
-
Tis life, and inflation, and now people are making them give people who grow the coffee beans a 'good' deal it means the price goes up.
-
I think though that with the more popular bars, ie Mars and Kitkat the
price often goes down because they make such profits they can afford
to.
I think Munchies cost around 50p! 50p!!!
-
5 caramel Rocky's were 99p at the co-op.

They also need to protect their market share.
-
I like Munchies. I get them in a big bag when i go to the cinema.
-
Munchies have always been ridiculously overpriced but they are nice. Loulou just out of interest, how long will that lot last you?
-
I did not buy it all for me. I bought 4 of everything and took them to my dads old nursing home for the old people who get no visitors. No better way to die than with a bar of chocolate in your hand.
-
I hope that didn't sound like i was trying to kill them off and i was wrong to say old people because some of them are only in their twenties.
-
That's a relief - I thought you were really going for it with that lot just for you!
-
No but i did eat 2 packets of toffee poppets on the way.
-
That's a really kind gesture Lou. Bless you.
-
Turkish Delight has always been really expensive for some reason. I find prices vary wherever you go, but they do seem high these days. At the risk of sounding like an old crusty, a bar of Dairy Milk was 20p when I was little!

I know what you mean lou, I think prices of chocolate is very high. It annoys me when it is higher in convenience places, e.g the trainstation. Little corner shops can be very dear. I find the best places are supermarkets and Superdrug and especailly Woolworths as they have the 4 for £1 offer and they have a lot of specials. At the moment they are doing the big bags of munchies, fruit pastiles etc as 2 for £1.50.
-
I find the best places for cheap chocolate are markets. Ok the stuff
they have varies from week to week, but it's still in date and you can
often get 5 small bars for a pound, or 2 large bars for a pound. Plus
they often have rare gems and chocolates from Europe.
They were doing boxes of Duc'Do chocolates for £1 a few weeks ago.

If you're lucky, sometimes you can find them cheap at Superdrug too.
They cost about a fiver per box if you buy them at Duty Free shops. I don't think chocolate at Duty Free is particularly cheap.
-
I can't get to any markets very often so I have to give the market chocolate a miss.
Farmfoods is also very good for chocolate.
-
Thing is it all depends how big your desire is, and if you want conveince you will pay a higher price for it.
-
I just go the newsagent on a morning for choc. if I bulk buy from the supermarket it never lasts. If i know its in the cupboard i have to eat it.

loulou, I am the same. 'Out of sight, out of mind' is definitely not true when it comes to chocolate in the cupboard (or in my drawer at work).
-
If I get up in the night i can't go back to bed without eating a jaffa cake or 2 or a wagon wheel. anything with sugar in is my downfall.
-
I am trying to oly have sweet things at the weekend for a little while. Need to make my squeezy tummy a bit firm!
-
I am trying to oly have sweet things at the weekend for a little while.
I have a friend who does that, but I couldn't manage it. Some days I have a craving, and I eat a lot of chocolate. Some days I don't have a craving so I don't eat chocolate. It's mainly weekends when I don't eat chocolate. I think my chocolate cravings are related to work!
-
Mine is the other way around. I like to relax at the weekend and have something sweet. Thought I would give it a go and see what happens. Might be just what I need. A bit of discipline! I haven't had any chocolate now since shrove tuesday and I am very proud.
-
I don't eat as much chocolate these days, only if its a new bar. I have
a stock of white smarties and white Kitkat chunkies though that I dip
into if I get a bit stressed.
Chocolate is generally bad for blood sugar levels, gives you highs and lows.

I do kind of agree. I like to keep a check of it and not go too mad. Thats why I am going to try and only have treats at weekend's. The routine of the working week is enough to keep me on a healthy eating regrime. And I dont want to be fat when I am older!
-
you are very self disciplined, I hve none, regardless.
-
me neither.
-
Nor me. I know that if I eat chocolate at work at lunchtime, by the afternoon I'm inclined to be tired and bad-tempered but I just can't seem to stop. It doesn't help that customers keep buying us choc all the time.
-
What you work as goldencup?
I've got some little Jelly Babies for tomorrow
-
I work in a library. We're obviously far too helpful!
-
And you get chocolate? He he might have to change jobs
-
WE dont get customers sending us nice things, we get death threats though.
-
Write to watchdog.
-
They do that, were not allowed.
-
All we get from customers is stupid questions. 'Where is the plug on my wireless speakers?' being my personal favourite.
-
We get boxes of chocolates, tins of Celebrations and Quality Street, tins of biscuits, cream doughnuts, ice cream Mars Bars in summer, bars of CDM, and assorted garden produce such as runner beans and fresh herbs. It's not wonder we're all overweight!
-
Whoops - should have read 'no wonder'.
We do get plenty of stupid questions and awkward customers as well!
-
Least customers show their appreciation. What's it like working in a library goldencup?
-
Noisy and good fun! It's more like an Internet Cafe with books really.
-
Sounds cool goldencup. It's great when you have a job you enjoy. I love reading books as well.

I used to work in a Uni library
and it was nothing like that there. And nobody gave us any chocolate (or appreciation, for that matter.) Although we did get 'priority' access to the books we needed for our course
-
Not good then. I think Uni libraries are generally like that. I think some people come into the one I work in just to banter with the staff! And we don't get any priorities with the stock at all, we have to pay fines like everyone else.
-
I wouldn't have given the staff at my uni library chocolate - a slap and lessons in politeness maybe!
-
I can't imagine why they give it to us sometimes - but they do.
-
we have to pay fines like everyone else.
We had to pay fines too, only it was easy for us to avoid them as we could renew our books whenever we needed!
-
Library books and chocolate shouldn't be put together.
