Fish shops haven't used newspaper in donkeys years.

My local shop still uses newspaper - but only around the box as a second layer.  Did they used to put the fish and chips directly in newspaper then?

They did; then people started worrying about the health aspects of eating ink.

I'm not surprised!  Don't even remember fish and chips being served like that round here.

Here they used to wrap the fish and chips in newspapers but there was a sheet of greaseproof paper between the food and the paper and the papers weren't used ones.

i always preferred my chips with print on them. psychological, maybe, but i thought they tasted nicer.
