Title: ABBA
Post by: wjp666 on July 10, 2008, 03:02:44 pm
i was listening to dermot o'leary on radio 2 a few days ago (hey, the cd player in my car's broken, okay!) and a cover verion of ABBA's Super Trouper came on. it was 'unplugged' and sang by a soft voiced female artist. has anyone got any idea who it is becasue i'm dying to get hold of it now.

i know this is a long shot, but hey. any ideas would be helpful.

Was it this recording?
It says on his site that he played this one.

I had many a teenage, testosterone-laden moment over the two ABBA ladies.  Loulou's instructions forbid me from revealing more detail.

I am not an ABBA fan, despite people thinking I should be because of my age.  I find them a bit over-produced and just too jolly perfect. I like a bit of guts to my music. Still, I have to admit they were enormously talented.

I appreciate them more now than I did in my youth. The simply were not cool for a young boy to like.

But young at heart. Pham only sounds older than me because he is more sensible.

Having said I like my music with a bit of guts, and that I don't like it to sound too perfect I must admit to rather liking a couple of Carpenters tracks - especially Rainy Days and Mondays and For All We Know. Strange that.

No you're not thick - far from it.  I think it's important to have a lighter side.

Has anyone been to see Mamma Mia yet?

No and I'm not going. After seeing clips of Meryl Streep attempting to sing I fear my ears won't be able to cope.

What about Pierce Brosnan making a twat of himself?

I mean in his acting career in general and that "mens" face cream specifically.
He wouldn't last 30 seconds on that pool table.

I'm not wasting good money watching that drivel.

My daughter, home for a few days, dragged me off to see Mama Mia last night. It's totally INSANE!  It's really, really mad but hysterically funny. The music has been re-worked and sounds much better than the original (I think i't because they haven't used so many synthesisers). It's as funny as Blazing Saddles.

I saw it too and thought it was brilliant.  Unlike Sex and the City which I found quite boring - nowhere near as good as the programme.
