Cumbria is the safest place to live in England and Wales in relation to the number of killings, figures show.
Overall during 2006-07 there were 13.7 killings per 1m population, but there were none in Cumbria, which shared a five-year low with Dyfed-Powys.

Is this the sign post to it?

Cumbria os totally beautiful. I expect that crimes such as murder are rare because of the relatively small population. As for Wales, from what I've been reading, they're more into suicide that murder, sadly.

Perhaps the murder rate is so low there because it's so pretty in Cumbria.
It may sound silly, but when you look at all the pretty scenery doesn't it calm you down and relax you? Hardly the right frame of mind for murder.
Unless of course you're stuck behind a tractor or a herd of sheep, then murder is definitely at the front of your mind!

There's been a murder!

There's been a murder!
No, no, no. You of all people should know that it goes "Thas ban a muddar".
Incidently, did you know he was the half-brother of the lead singer of The Sweet, Brian Connolly, whose real name was actually McManus?
