I worked late doing teaching observations. My husband picked me up from work at 7.15 and took me for a meal so we didn't have to stay in and hide behind the settee with the lights off!
I don't mind neighbours' kids and family coming to trick or treat but I won't give to strangers.
I don't mind giving sweets to kids on Halloween at all. In fact, most years I make goodie bags for any kids who may come to the door. I dress up my kids and let them answer the door and scare 'trick or treaters' on the other side. It's all good fun.
The only thing that has annoyed me in the past is when you get older kids come to the door who are barely dressed up and clearly are only interested in money. They can get lost as far as I'm concerned.

Not at all...it's meant to be a bit of fun and if somebody doesn't want to participate it shouldn't be an issue.
We luckily haven't had too many chavvy teens come-a-knocking the past few years. Those that do get a bag of Jelly Tots, Fruit Pastilles etc like everyone else

Nothing wrong with Jelly Tots.
I still pinch my kids sweets and I'm 30

Always had a 'thing' for Tooty Frooties...
