Title: Newcastle in top 3 cities
Post by: loulou on August 25, 2007, 12:44:06 am

People in Newcastle rate their quality of life among the best in Europe , according to new research.

A survey showed Newcastle was in the top three cities in Europe when residents were asked their satisfaction with a range of issues such as employment, schools, housing and health services compared with residents in other major European cities.

Newcastle was recently voted the eighth best party city in the world by American travel experts Weissman Travel and was the only British city to make it onto the list! Newcastle has also been voted second best city in Europe for social life, and in a recent poll of office workers and students it was voted the best city in England for work and study.

A friend of mine who is living temporarily in Stafford, was recently stoped by an American tourist who wanted directions to Newcastle.  My friend knowing the city well directed him up the M6 and then M62, A1 to Newcastle-upon-Tyne.  Little did he know that the tourist almost certainly meant Newcastle-under-Lyme and would have been going 190 miles out of his way!  You have to laugh.
