Thanks in part to this website i have found a source for my all time favourite chocolate bar "Old Jamaica".

I had noticed quite a few contributors to the site mentioning a company called Cyber Candy and what they had in stock. I  thought i would take a look and Hey Presto there it was! Available in 55g and 250g sizes. What a result! Order placed.

 

It is a great pity that Old Jamaica is no longer available in most shops. Presumably either a down turn in sales or an increase in production costs saw its demise and withdrawal by Cadburys thus depriving the great chocolate buying public of a real gem.

 

However with the recent reintroduction of the Wispa bar then i suppose all hope is not lost for others.

I used to like Old Jamaica, I always ended up scoffing it in about 5 minutes though.

Old Jamaica was my absolute favourite. I espec ially miss it this time of year as I used to get a few bars as "top up" presents at Christmas.

Well I thought I'd check this out, but at best part of 10 including delivery for a 250g bar I'd say they were taking the f****** ***s!

Does anyone know where it's made (presumably not Bournville)?  I am sorely tempted but will resist at that price.

And shame on Cadbury's for denying this well-loved product to the British Public who have made that Company what it is.  The current dumbed-down Cadbury range (for the UK market) is pathetic and has never been as bad.  It's a slap in the face and we deserve better.

I must admit their prices have my bank manager breaking out in a sweat.

I think I'd have to be pretty keen to pay that much for a bar of chocolate.

Today I actually visited the shop in person (since it's not too far from where I work) and bought some Old Jamaica.  I have to say I was a little disappointed; the basic taste is the same as it always was but the texture most certainly is not.  I'd best describe it as 'dry and powdery', not silky like Old Jamaica used to be.  Still, it is made in Australia so the recipe there might have been different all along.
