Title: Adopt a piglet anyone?
Post by: loulou on August 17, 2007, 09:20:24 am
A piglet found at the side of a Derbyshire road is at the centre of a battle over its fate.

Named Jasmine by staff at the RSPCA centre in Chesterfield, the animal is thought to have fallen out of a lorry shortly after being born.

A local farmer has claimed ownership but the centre has been "inundated" with people who want to adopt the pig.

The RSPCA said it was seeking the owner but Jasmine was staying put due to foot-and-mouth restrictions.

A driver rescued the animal after nearly hitting it while driving along Poolsbrook Road, at Poolsbrook.

Ahhh. Friends of ours have a small holding and they breed several types of pig. We always go over to see the piglets because they are just so adorable and interesting to watch. When very small they all follow each other about in a little swarm and when the leader changes direction they all follow. Sometimes they time it wrong though and fall over each other in a heap. It's just so funny.

Jasmine is a silly name for a pig.

Yes, but it's better than Pinky or Perky (she grits her teeth and makes a determined effort not to twitch).

Well I've known a Jasmine and she was a right pig.
Bit of a cow too.
