have looked on net and found very mixed reviews, would like to know if anyone has seen it and what they think
-
What is it? A play? A film? A show?
-
Yes I've seen it and I loved it! It's a musical and the story is the prequel to the Wizard of Oz.

Thanks GC, im not normally put off by bad reviews i have often seen things that the critics disliked but i have ejoyed, it was just the combination of reading them added to the ease with which i got good seats at a matinee in the middle of the school holidays made me wonder
much better to have the opinion of someone you trust that has seen it.Thanks again
-
Is it a midweek matinee? If so that could explain why you got tickets relatively easily. Obviously a lot of people have work commitments, but also midweek matinees often feature the understudies in the leads, which puts some people off. Mind you, from what I've read there aren't any big names doing Wicked, so it's probably less of a consideration.
-
lorri, my friend told me it was really good so I hope you enjoy it.
-
thanks for that lou, as smurfy rightly said the matinees often have understudies and there are no real big names to pull in non theatre fans that only go to see star names, even taking these very valid reasons into account i was still suprised to get the seats we did only 2 weeks in advance, we go to the west end probably every month to 6 weeks and have to attend matinee`s due to travel time but normally have to book a good couple of months in advance to sit where we like to, so i thought i would ask on here as i knew i would get honest repies, thank you everyone that has answered you have all made me feel much beter
-
Lorri what did you think of the show?
-
We both thought it was absolutely fantastic
. After i posted on here i looked the cast up and realised i had seen the people playing Glinda (Dianne Pilkington) and Boc (James Gillan) in other shows and really liked both of them, and i still cant work out how we got front row of dress circle 2 weeks before hand though !! lol, the place was packed we could only see 5 empty seats in the theatre, so must of just been pure good luck
.Have got a few other shows booked in next few weeks but after that we may well go back and see it again
-
Good, I'm really glad that you enjoyed to it. I went to see Billy Elliot on Saturday and loved it.

GC was there any northern people in Billy Elliot?
All the original Billies had to come from the north of England but now they have one who is Irish and one American! The one we saw was from Manchester and he was absolutely brilliant (and black, incidentally).
-
On the news the other night they were complaining that there should be a northern kid playing Billy Elliot as he was from Easington.
-
Surely the whole point of acting is that you're pretending to be someone else?
-
Isn't there a lad from Cornwall who plays Billy Elliot too?
-
I couldn't resist watching the film of Billy Elliot on Sunday night and it was as brilliant as I remember. What a sound track!
I have been on holiday in London and saw Stomp whilst there. Has anyone else seen it? It was so utterly different to anything I have seen on stage before. It was absolutley wonderful!
-
Yes I've seen Stomp - I loved it but it took quite a while for my ears to recover!

Well that's where they went wrong cos the film was based around the miners strike in the north east village of Easington and everyone knows there are no black people living there.
