Click on the link for a reminder of what the wrapper looked like!
-
I dont remember those.
-
Ah! Now these must have been a rival to Milk Tray Bar cos Dairy Box was made by Rowntrees and Milk Tray by cadburys.
-
On the back of the packet it has the flavours listed but I can't work them out!
-
I reckon this picture is from the 50s in which case it predates even me (well, I was born in 1957 actually).
-
Bar's like this seem so far away and exotic from what we have now.
-
Yeh all we have now is just bog standard dairy milk everywehere.
-
The closest we have to a selection all in one bag/bar is revels! Its a sorry state.
There are a few bars in America/Australia that have mixed bars. For example the Cadbury Snack bar and the Turtle Bar.
-
Maybe we could strike a deal with Cadbury and get them to reintroduce Fry's Five Centres by telling them they could re-brand it as Dairy Milk with Five Centres - they seem to do that with everything else...
-
please no not morefrys, frys is mingsville
-
That's because Cadbury's happiness loves our money.
-
Salsa you are fantastic in many ways, but I may have to revise that opinion if you continue to berate my beloved Fry's!
-
These bars look similar to the Cadburys Snack bars from Australia. In a Cadburys Snack each chunk has a different filling, I think they have things like Caramel, Pineapple, Strawberry, Orange, Coconut and Turkish Delight. The Australians seem to have it good when it comes to chocolate *dreams of Cherry Ripes*
-
They could call it CDM 5
-
Fry's Five Centres was dark choc so I wonder
how it would taste with Dairy Milk instead. Some flavours are better with dark choc, don't you think?
-
Interesting thought - there's been a fair few dark choc variations on milk choc (dark Mars etc.) but I can't think of any in reverse. Anyone like the idea of milk choc After Eights or Fry's Orange Cream?
-
What about Milk Chocolate Orange? The plain ones were out for years before.
Also Cherry Ripe, I've said it before and I'll say it again - Australian chocolate is HORRIBLE! (Apart from Cherry Ripes of course - they're okay).
-
The Frys Bars were actually available in milk and plain varieties if I remember. The Cadburys bars were too. Milk Tray Bar and Plain Choice bar (with Bournville choc).
Revels are like the sweepings off the floor.
-
Mint seems to go better with dark. And the soft centres in Quality Street, the strawberry one and the orange one are incased in dark choc.
-
A lot of fruit centres seem to have dark choc, for the contrast I suppose.
-
Might be because milk is creamier and it might not blend so well with the flavours?
-
I would like the Dairy Box bar and Milk Tray bar to return.
-

Thank you.
-
I still have LOADS of
So I am ok there.
-
Haven't they gone manky yet?
-
I'd love one of those wrappers!
-
PM me with an address and I might even send you one with the bar inside!
-
They are frozen. Mankiness has been postponed.
-
how long can they stay frozen?
-
Until my freezer packs up.
It is only confectionery. I suppose it might one day go hard and crumbly, but most of you will before them.

-
PM me with an address and I might even send you one with the bar inside!
If anyone else has NOT tasted them before, tell me what they DON'T taste like and I may decide to send one to you as well.
-
Well they don't taste of peanuts.....or coffee.....
-
OOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH
You're good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
PM me then.
-
-
On it's way, GC.
-

-
I have gone hard many a time, but have yet to go crumbly.
-
And they don't taste of mazipan or liquorice
