Title: You're never too old
Post by: oldspice on June 01, 2007, 10:57:58 pm
Today I have been to my father-in-law's wedding. He is 77 and his bride is almost 80.  They have been together for 9 years and for most of that time they have been 'living in sin' as they call it but today they finally tied the knot!

Having experienced 10 days of almost non-stop heavy rain up here, and with rain predicted for Friday as well, we were wondering if we would all get to wear the summery outfits we had chosen. On the day the sun shone bright and long all day. That was a great start. The civil ceremony was very nice. The building was a beautiful old place and the gardens were delightful too.

After the ceremony and photographs, we all retired to a grand old coaching inn for a roast beef wedding breakfast. We took our time, with speeches and chat and so on, then we went to the bride and groom's home for more drinks, chat and so on.
Despite the age of the bride and groom, there were about fifty guests so it was quite a lively affair. It was a really lovely day. If I can get some help from my son, I will download a piccie from my phone. oldspice2007-06-03 19:59:25

That is so awesome.
I hope they will be very happy.Big%20smile

It is lovely that the weather cleared up, and the day sounds to have been very relaxed and pleasant. I think it's importatnt to have time to breathe out on your wedding day. You ought to be able to enjoy it, not feel worried, stressed and harrassed all the time.

The last wedding I went to was my friends. It was so rushed, the speeches were garbled and the bride and groom were gone almost as soon as the plates were cleared. It all happened so fast that it's now all a blur for me, heaven only knows if they remember it at all!

My wedding (not planned for a long time yet. LOL) is going to be more like your father-in-law's than my friends. I hope.Smile
