Title: Mixed hospital wards
Post by: loulou on May 12, 2007, 12:16:19 am
I overheard 2 women chatting and one was saying how she had recently been in hospital but was upset she was in a mixed ward and had some very ill men opposite her who kept her awake all night with their snoring. I strongly disagree with mixed wards. What do you think and have you experienced a hospital stay on a mixed ward?

I don't think mixed wards are appropriate; I imagine a lot of elderly people feel quite uncomfortable about them, and they are statistically more likely to need hospitalisation.

I don't like mixed wards and cannot see why we should put up with them.

I would insist on a private room.

Not that easy if you can't afford to go private.

When my friend went into hospital for a small op she asked if she could have a side room and she was charged 30 per night.

That's not too bad - I didn't realise you could do that.

Yes and so if you are lucky enough to know you are going into hospital it gives you time to save.

I haven't any experience of hospitals at all thankfully.
But I've no doubt I will have eventually and I don't like the idea of a mixed ward at all.
