Could somone help me clear up a confusion?
At work we were discussing old bars and Roger, the grandfather of our office, was talking about Nutty, an old bar from the 60s that had peanuts and chocolate in.
Cheryl, not the office baby, but almost, insisted that Nutty was actually around in the 80s and was a fudge bar covered in peanuts with no chocolate.
I contend they are different bars and that the 80s bar Cheryl is thinking of was a Nudge Bar (nut + fudge = Nudge). As far as I remember, Nudge was a chewy fudge sausage with a think layer of nuts clinging to it. The Nutty bar died out long ago and I can barely remember it.
Any help?

i read a couple of things about nutty bar being fudge coverd in nuts but i have to say i dont remember it myself. Sounds a bit like a payday bar.
Nunch (became Nudge) - Peanut butter chocolatey thing, now Starbar and/or Peanut Boost. acording to one site.
sorry i cant help more

Hm. Perhaps we're all wrong! What I do know is that the fudge bar with the peanuts was not the same Nutty Bar as the chocolate and peanut bar of the 1960s.
One nutty thing I do remember from long ago is a ring-shaped nut thing with a hole in the middle in a dark celophane wrapper. Ring any bells?

Well Peanut Boost was discontinued years ago, and the current Star Bar is a mix of that and a Biscuit Boost, so I don't think that's right.

I think what you say in the first post is absolutely right Oldspice.

Thanks! A wrapper from the 80s bar would help!

Copied this extra bit from another site:
Nunch (became Nudge) - Peanut butter chocolatey thing, now Starbar and/or Peanut Boost.
Nutty - 'The peanut-covered turd' simlar to Picnic, but came in a sort of brown-tinted transparent wrapper. Ads by Kenny Everett displayed an odd grasp of the laws of physics - "Rowntree's Nutty has so many nutty bits, it won't stand up on its end!"
I'm sure I've found a pic of the wrapper before but can't find it now.

There must have been two Nutty bars then cos the original Nutty had chocolate on it and predated kenny Everett's popularity by decades.
The fudge, peanut covered bar definitely did not have peanut butter in it and I am sure the wrapper was orange or yellow.

17 Nutty Pure 80s bar, with a smoky brown see-through wrapper. Peanuts encase a fudge-type caramel log centre

it bought back memories and made my mouth water

Well, someone there got their research wrong because they claim Aztec is a 'non-chocolate bar of fudge with peanuts clinging to it'. Surely there's someone at The Guardian old enough to remember the REAL Aztec bar?
Their description of Nutty has confused the two bars. The 80s version did not have a brwon see-through wrapper - that's the old 60s chocolate one!
Thanks for trying though Lorri.

I noticed about the Aztec too and thought the same thing. I distinctly remember that see-through wrapper though Oldspice, and I hardly remember the 60's! The plot thickens....

What was a real Aztec bar like?

It was supposed to be Cadbury's answer to the Mars Bar. It was soft nougaty stuff with caramel and chocolate. Not bad but nothing special. Better than Mars though I thought.
I bet that 80s bar did have a see-through brown celophane wrapper and did have nuts on the outside with fudge inside but i am sure it was not called Nutty. If it was, there were definitely TWO bars - one in the 60s with chocolate and one in the 80s without!

a nutty bar was around in the 80's it was a soft chewy centre covered in nuts DELICIOUS

I bet a Hershey's Nutrageous would be similar then (if it wasn't for the vile chocolate).
