Title: Comic Relief
Post by: oldspice on March 15, 2007, 07:22:36 pm
I am all for charity but is anyone else totally blooming well fed-up with wall-to-wall Comic Relief on bloody BBC1?

It's worth giving 20 just to get them to shut up and put something else on.

comic relief has been going nearly 20 years now, and in which time they've raised millions upon millions of pounds.

so why when they show footage of Africa/Ethiopia now doesn't it look any different? what are they doing with all this cash?

I am sure the money goes on worthy projects and I don't mind giving money but I'm sick of it on TV every night. That singing show is atrocious. I've never heard such bad singing. Now we've got them doing Alan Sugar's stupid programme and I'm dreading tomorrow night!

Tomorrow night - 'Comic Relief does Comic Relief'. It's like normal Comic Relief, only the difference is, celebs are doing it in aid of Comic Relief! Wow!

At least children in need is just one night, not every night for weeks in the run up to the actual night.
I'm gonna be watching something else and to be honest I'm not much bothered what.

I think I'll let my mum choose just for a change. After all it is mother's day on Sunday. LOL

I only watched The Vicar of Dibley sketch which was Ok. The bits that made me laugh the most were the old boy sitting naked at the meeting claiming he was in "one of those dreams when you think you're naked in public" and Alice calling Sting "Mr String".

Just watched the tony blair sketch on youtube. I have to say i think he was great. You can tell he's coming to an end of his office - i can't imagine him risking doing that 2 years ago!

The Radio Times said Carol Vorderman was going to do Numberwang at 9:30pm ... did I miss it or did it not appear? I switched over for Top Gear Top of the Pops and fell asleep!

for some odd reason, i stayed up and watched it all. 'Numberwang' was shown at around or after 1.00am! (with vorderman and johnny ball.)

I watched most of Red nose TV on the night. In general I thought it was mostly O.K. It can't be easy to appeal to so many varied tastes in humour.

One of the bits thats get to me are the film clips on location. I think this year they were really quite harding hitting in parts, but in my opinion justified. I make a point of encouraging my two boys to watch those bits. I think it is important for kids to see the reality. Reduced me to tears to see all the aids suffing people, or aids orphaned kids. I was also equally moved by the horror of the domestic violence telephone call. I know it was thought provoking for my eldest boy, who saw that bit with me. You can tell kids how fortunate they are yourself, but some how that brought home the harsh truth of the misery expierenced by some folks. I know I took the opportunity to remind him that we don't always know what goes on behind closed doors, and some of those kids at school who might seem 'strange loners' might be dealing with bigger things than he can imagine.

I was a bit disappointed this time though as the previous red nose day I got involved and worked on the phone lines to take donations. Sadly As the call centre I worked in has closed down we didn't get to do it again.
