Well I don't mind a bit of naughties as long as it's in good taste
I'll compare the differences between the old version of the forum and the new and see if I can hack something in between.
I cannot upload images from my hard drive. Holding down the control key makes no difference, I don't have a pop-up blocker.
That's the problem I was having. I am at work (a university) and we have IE not netscape.
Absolutely right smurfy.
She's getting the 'no permission' error so I'll try and track that down.
OK, I've worked out some of the problems - I think.
There may still be issues with editing/deleting posts.
First - it seems the hosting provider is using clustered servers - this is good for performance but because some of my code is rather old it doesn't check that this is going on so in effect you can be instantly logged out. That's the cause of the occaisional permission error, only solution is to refresh the forum page (or depending on how you've setup your login you may need to relogin to the site).
Second - for some reason the author of the forum software changed the path that files were saved in (i.e. they weren't 'per user') I switched this back but because the author also added saving to a temp folder first this caused problems where a user hadn't previously uploaded anything. There were also some general issues mapping the path to files.
Long story short I think/hope the image upload is usable, if you get the permission error I'm sorry I'll try and come up with a quick solution to that problem over the coming weekend.
Yay!
Thanks Chocadmin
[BTW that image was loaded from my hard disk not from a web adress]

It's 6.40 pm and I've now tried to post three times without success.
Yet that particular post went through instantly!

It's probably search engines. They were always there on the old version of the forum but it didn't list them as such. I've added a file to the site to tell search engines not to index the forum but it could take as much as a month for them to realise this and stop indexing it.
If the number of guests hasn't gone down in another week or so I'll look up how to get the offending search engines to specifically reindex the whole site, which will force them to look at the file that tells them not to look at the forum - if that makes sense.
Also we do have plenty of guest users who browse the site and may or may not have an account (the 17k+ page views per day can't all be those of us with logins

).
