Has anyone else suffered from noise nuisance? The people living above me have been playing loud music on and off for the last few days. I've written to my housing office to sort it out. Some people are so bloody inconsiderate to others.

623 do you mean you have a family of 8 living next door?
-
I have a problem at the moment with the neighbour next door constantly banging. He moved in about 3 months ago and whatever he is doing is taking a lot of time. He will bang and drill from 8am to 9am then it is quiet until he starts again at 3pm and goes on until 6pm. I had 2 walls knocked down, a loft conversion, new bathroom and kitchen and didn't have this much banging. I am thinking he is just crap at DIY and should pay someone to get in and on with it properly.
-
The people above me do that a lot too lou. There's always some sort of banging going on. They also constantly move furniture around (!) but I can't figure out why. They play music from 12am to 3am too, usually not too loud but I can still hear it.

It shocks me that some families have so many children. When I've been applying for a new flat In Newcastle I've noticed there's some houses suitable for parents with 6 children. Usually in chavvy areas.
-
623 why is your type orange but you want red stars?
-
It looks red to me.
-
I apologise and blame my laptop.
-
You sure it's not the old eyesight going? If so it'll all be downhill from there

-
I got some new glasses from specsavers so i blame this old laptop. Anyone seen any pink laptops about? I seen a lovely Sony baby pink one but far too pricey.
-
It looks orange to me too Lou.
I had a problem with my new neighbours at Christmas and the New Year but it's been quiet since then.
The people who lived there previously gave us four years of hell. It was mostly caused by family visiting them and causing trouble. There were fights in the house, fights in the street, fights in the garden. They threw bricks and each other, ran at each other with large fence posts and once the woman stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife. Another time there was an arson attack on their home and ours was filled with smoke. It was really frightening. They had four small children who spat at people in the street, threw stones at people visiting my home, pissed in my garden crapped in gardens and in the street and sore like navvies.
Finally, the family were served with ASBOs and the police banned her family from visiting her by obtaining a High Court Injunction.
They moved a few streets away but they still own the house and they rent it out.
-
OK here she comes again with her............
"I live in the country and it's lovely here"
Everyone duck and cover until she's finished OK?
Here the noisy neighbours are the lambs in the field next door. (Which actually make quite a row when they all get going).
I've been lucky enough never to have noisy neighbours, even when I lived in towns or small villages it was relatively peaceful.
I can't even imagine what it must be like to have neighbours like that Oldspice. There should be something someone can do about them, but I don't suppose there is. I think it's awful that there are people in the world who really don't care if they make other people's lives a misery.
Makes me just want to
them. But then does that make me as bad as they are if I do that?
-
A friend of mine successfully got her neighbour taken to court over noise pollution. She got fined £600 and her stereo was impounded. It took a long time though - my friend had to phone environmental health each and every time it happened. She also kept a diary of incidents.
-
Crikey that's a lot of work for your friend and for the environmental health dept.
I think someone from the environmental health should move in with the person complaining and stay there until enough evidence has been gathered. If there isn't room in the house perhaps a tent in the garden?
I bet that would make things move along faster. At least it would with my cooking.
-

I had to call environmental health last year and they came to my flat to witness the noise nuisance. After this they wrote to the people in question and gave me a diary to record further incidents. They seemed to stop playing music after that, but recently seem to think it's ok to start playing it again.

The worst neighbour I had was when I lived in Sunderland. Each weekend all the riff raff gathered at his flat playing loud music and throwing empty beer cans and pizza boxes into my garden. One Sunday I woke to see someone had painted paedophile and kiddie touching bastard all over his walls in bright yellow. A local villain had been in prison for burglary and recognised him. That was when I was in my twenties and renting and my dad came with a van the same day and moved me back home.
-
I pity anyone who has to live/has lived in Sunderland. Horrible horrible place. They have a huge hospital and no wonder, the amount of people who get attacked or beaten up there.
-
That's a bit harsh kev. I've never lived there for 16 years but my family do and I find it is the same there as anywhere else, good areas and bad areas. It is statistically proven Sunderlands crime rate is a lot less that that of Leeds .
-
I have a friend who lives in Sunderland and from what I've heard it's horrible. I've heard other horror stories too. From what I understand Middlesborough is even worse. I'm not saying Leeds is any better cos it isn't - I can't wait to move.

Middlesbourgh the car captains of UK
still not a lot of people take the bus
-
I'm sure I read somewhere that Middlesborough will be a ghost-town in years to come because everyone moves away from there.
-
Middlesbrough is indeed a bad place to live. Not many people like Sunderland as it is the most racist city in the country and they don't tolerate ethnic minorities. Where do you plan to move to kev?
-
that ok then everyone will move to stokenton and Cleveland next door to to them
-
I'm moving to the centre area of Newcastle as soon as I get a flat. I've had an offer for a place and hopefully will be moving soon.

Does Gatehead have a Town Centre?
is it Right next to Newcaslte town Centre
AND ONCE a gain how much is a single Metro RIDE
-
If you heard Sunderland is rough you don't want to live in Newcastle. Heaton in the east end has a high burglary rate. Don't go out alone in the west end ( Scotswood, Elswick, Blaydon, Benwell). Newcastle city centre is fine but nowhere around it.
-
There's only certain areas I will live and will only consider Ouseburn, near the Quayside, or the top end of Westgate. I've heard bad things about Benwell and Elswick in particular.
kevvosa39123.8186458333
-
Westgate borders Benwell and has the riff raff passing through. Where is Ouseburn?
-
what about the Walker/Wallsend areas?
ot birker gove area?
-
623 you shouldn't know about them horrible places. Only live there if you intend to go into the drugs business. That's more north tyneside than newcastle.
-
Where is Ouseburn?
Sort of near the city centre around Shieldfield and the quayside (near where the millenium bridge is).
Don't you live in Byker lou? I've heard bad stories about there too.
-
what about the Walker
Yet another place I've heard bad things about.
-
No kev I live nowhere near Byker. Have you heard of Tynemouth?
-
At the seaside?

kevvosa39123.8269328704
-
Yes we have a beach and not far from Whitley Bay. I live in a small village.
-
I know someone from Whitely Bay, never been myself but apparently it's lovely there.
-
Unfortunately all the seafront is boarded up and not like it was years ago in Whitley bay. Now it is always full of stag and hen parties at weekends. Tynemouth is more old fashioned and has lots of quaint buildings and restaurants and bars that only 30 plus go into so good for a night out.
-
That's what everyone keeps saying to me about Newcastle - "it's good for a night oot!"

-
what about South of the City centre? gateshead area ?and along the river side - Mertor centre>?a
-
That's what everyone keeps saying to me about Newcastle - "it's good for a night oot!"
Thankfully I don't have that accent.
-
what about South of the City centre? gateshead area ?and along the river side - Mertor centre>?a
I haven't heard good things about Gateshead but I think the areas near the river are ok as they aren't too close to the centre of Gateshead.
kevvosa39123.8392939815
-
I wouldn't live in Gateshead but the people are very friendly.
-
I think it's terrible that we have such run-down and violent places to the extent that people are afraid to walk in their own city or town. What have we come to?

Sometimes I think it would be nice just to go live on an island.

I live on an island.
Perhaps I've mentioned it????

At first I thought you lived on the isle of man velvet.

as No one has commet on this area of Newcastle - south side of river
I can visit it
-
-
623 are you saying you want to visit it? Why?
-
A day out perhaps?
-
Strange place for a day out.
-
It would be a nice long bus ride for 623.
-
I hate travelling by bus. I can't imagine how horrible a long bus ride would be.
-
First of all there's the smelly person who sits next to you cos they think you have a friendly face, then there's the kids at the back swearing their heads off. Then there's the amazing cramp you get in your legs from sitting in a uncomfortable seat for hours.
-
then there's the kids at the back swearing their heads off.
I've heard the most shocking things on buses said by kids. "Do you spunk in yer lass? I love spunking in my lass" said by 13 year old boys
Now that it's halfterm the town has been full of the little critters*
*insert stronger word here.

Half of them haven't been with a girl anyway.
-
Only half of them? I'd like to think that hardly any of them would.

Well someone is responsible for all these teenage pregnancies.
-
The teenagers I expect.

And there is always someone who eats an orange.
-
And a bag of crisps.
-
I was on a bus today and a smelly man got on , ate a mars bar then dropped his wrapper on the floor.
-
one time the bus stop and a smelly man tried to get a but the Driver stop him and told him to get a bath.and shut the doors!
-
I once saw someone being asked to leave a shop because they stunk.
-
I've had to ask people to leave the library for the same reason. It's really embarrassing but if people are complaining we have no choice.
