Title: Big brother
Post by: on January 18, 2007, 09:30:51 am
Jade Goody and her kith and kin are indicative of a wider intolerance and ignorance abroad in this country.  Big Brother shows the UK in its true colours: A breeding ground for uneducated, moronic twats.  Discuss.

I have not watched much of BB this time as they are horrible people in there.  I read in the paper there were racist comments made towards Shilpa but I am none the wiser. loulou39100.4523958333

I haven't watched it but think it ridiculous considering all that's going on in the world that BB makes headline news.

I haven't watched it but have ben folowing the news and have heard excerpts of the dialogue on the radio.  It's pretty unedifying stuff.  The fact that this prog is so popular is in itself a sad indictment on the country.

I have never watched any of the Big Brother programmes.

It is one of the mysteries of my life........What makes normally sensible people want to watch other people,  washing...sleeping...bathing...rowing...arguing...flossing.. .bed hopping...cheating...drinking and falling over?

Do none of them have lives of their own?

This news coverage is a sad reflection on the state of the world today. People are fighting and dying, being murdered, robbed and abused. The planet is being neglected, polluted, violated and generally taken for granted.

It is outrageous that with all the problems and tragedies happening in the world right now THIS is what makes headline news!!!!!

I think people do it for the money and the celebs do it to try to get back into the limelight.  I wouldn't be able to suffer being around people I don't know 24 hours a day and the thought of a camera following me to the bathroom is just scarey.

What annoys me is how people in our country are made into 'celebrities' simply for being on a reality TV show.

I don't think the whole of the Uk is a breeding ground for such people but I agree with your sentiments in general.

Jade Goody is a shocking example of the way in which someone with no talent or social skills what-so-ever can earn a good income simply for being ignorant, ill-mannered, foul-mouthed and downright nasty.

I think her behaviour is not so much racist as displaying a deep envy of someone richer than she is, a complete lack of understanding of and tolerance towards someone with a different way of life and an appalling lack of self control and sense of proportion.

I can't imagine why people willingliy submit to appear on such a terrible show and can understand even less why people watch it.

Oh yes. That would be out of the question for me. I'd be (even more of) a basket case by the end of one day, let alone weeks and weeks of it!

I would be asking to be let out to go home!!

I haven't actually seen that much of this, so I can't really comment, but if what I read in the papers is true Jade's 'loveable dimwit' mask has seriously slipped. This could bury her - and I can't say I'll be sorry.

Jade is getting a lot of bad press about her fitness video and her claims she lost all her weight through exercise when she did in fact go to a place in Liverpool and have liposuction.

I think the fact that there were over 20,000 complaints shows you can't judge the whole UK by what happened on that show.

No of course not.  There are many people here who are well manered, educated and right thinking.  But I still believe Jade Goody speaks for a significant proportion of the population.  There were over 57,000,000 who didn't complain if you want to use statistics.

Perhaps those of us who did not complain are disgusted by Jade's behaviour in its context but have much bigger things to worry about - like whether Bush will invade Iran, Korea will nuke us at some point in the future and another gang of backpack bombers will step on to buses and tubes this summer.

And about 53,000,000 of those don't watch Big Brother!

That still means only 0.5% complained.

To put that into perspective, only one other UK programme in history has had more complaints against it.

No, it was Jerry Springer: The Opera.

I bet if the BBC let me make a programme it would get more complaints.

I think it probably takes more skill to make a programme that gets a lot of compliments than complaints.

No, it was Jerry Springer: The Opera.

And apparently only 8,000 of the complaints were received AFTER it was screened.

I remember a programme where they had the most complained about shows on. There was a bunch of people on it who literally watched TV shows just so they could complain about how disgusting they are.

A plant in India which makes perfume bottles endorsed by British television star Jade Goody has stopped production following the Big Brother racism row.

She has been before to the factory where they make her perfume bottles.

Given this is the woman who thought 'East Angular' was abroad, probably not.

Yes, and it was Jade that fixed it! She has wrecked her own career and made a UK one for Shilpa in the process.

Jo O'Meara was in the paper yesterday and is refusing to apologise. Does this make her worse than Jade, or simply more honest, as Jade's 'apology' was obviously staged to save her skin?
