Title: Confess
Post by: oldspice on December 29, 2006, 02:08:39 pm
Come on then! Own up! Who admits to watching The Railway Children for the 349th time. Who can't resist seeing Jenny Agutter running down the platform screaming "Daddy! My Daddy!".

Not me. However I was really peeved to see that My Fair Lady was on and I didn't have time to watch it!

.... All I want is a room somewhere,
Far away from the cold night air.
With one enormous chair,
Aow, wouldn't it be loverly?
Lots of choc'lates for me to eat,
Lots of coal makin' lots of 'eat.
Warm face, warm 'ands, warm feet,
Aow, wouldn't it be loverly?
Aow, so loverly sittin' abso-bloomin'-lutely still.
I would never budge 'till spring
Crept over me windowsill.
Someone's 'ead restin' on my knee,
Warm an' tender as 'e can be.
'ho takes good care of me,
Aow, wouldn't it be loverly?
Loverly, loverly, loverly, loverly

That is a song that makes me so thankful for the roof over my head.

I love that song. I used to sing it to my kids at bed time when they were little... with full Eliza pronunciation.

However I never managed to look as georgous as the lovely Audrey Hepburn

For some reason my husband is also very keen on watching that film.  Or indeed anything with Jenny Agutter in it!

I hate the Railway children.  Cos it's the only film I can recall with Jenny Agutter not getting her kit off.  I noticed they editted Walkabout when it was on recently.  All the good bits were chopped, they must have known I was watching!

Didn't you like The Railway Children when you were young or have you always been a pervert?

I'm not a pervert (she was 18 at the time) I'm just honest.  No, if I can be serious for a minute - it is a good film although I do find Bernard Cribbin's character really irritating.  The part where they prevent the train crash with the red hanky is still powerful and is maybe the highlight of a film, which is essentially a series of set pieces.

Back to the children, while Jenny Agutter remained attractive and refined in adulthood, the prettier kid Sally Thomsett (19 at the time) went a bit ropey in later life, bless her.

Was Sally Thomsett really 19 at the time?  She looked about 12!  By the way it wasn't red hankies that stopped the train, it was red flannel petticoats so in a way she did get her kit off! goldencup39081.4491666667

She certainly did. The last time I saw her on anything she looked about 100.

Well she doesn't look too bad to me.  And interestingly, she appeared in TV commercials for Crunchie, Galaxy and Rolo!

I don't know how recent that pic is, but she was on a show about sitcoms about five years back and she looked terrible.

She used to be in Man About The House and all the boys in school fancied her like mad.

Yes, she was 19 but did an excellent schoolgirl!  Yes, in MAtH she was still really cute and attractive, and then just went to pieces.  But some women do that, look at Sophia Loren - still beautiful at 72 or whatever.  But Brigitte Bardot, who was never in the same league is well - Waaaaaaaaaah!!!!!

I expect she's had some 'help' since.
