Title: Excellent day shopping.
Post by: loulou on December 09, 2006, 06:17:02 pm

I went shopping today for some last minute presents and scored for £87.

Firstly I went to Boots to the Elizabeth Arden counter where the girl was still in a state of shocking following the male customer who had asked to buy a present for his wife and said he didn't care what it was as long as he went home with something that she couldn't add up three perfumes and undercharged me £20.

Next I went to House of Fraser to buy some make up and because the till wasn't working at the counter I was at she took me to another. On route to the second till I passed the Molton Brown counter and decided to buy some shampoo. So I arrive at the second till with all my purchases, hand over my visa card and because the sales girl was obsessing about wrapping my shampoos in a gift box with a bow (dunno why cos they are for me) she charges me £54 and forgets to charge me for the £52 gift set I was buying my mam.

Then I go to Faith to buy some shoes (black ,high heel for those who care). There's a black leather clutch bag I've had my eye on for a few weeks but haven't got as it's £30. The assistant tells me all bags are half price today with the purchase of a pair of shoes so I decide to buy the bag now it is £15 and we get into conversation about me having small feet (size 3) and she charges me for the shoes and forgets to charge me for the bag.

These assistants haven't got their minds fully on their jobs with all the Christmas shoppers.

Why can't I find a shop assistant like that?

I've done the same thing two weeks running now - gone shopping for pressies and only got stuff for myself

It's not Lou's job to see that the right prices are charged. That's their job.

I went shopping for some new jeans yesterday and found that the only assistants were two girls who were about 19 or 20 years old girl.  They were both dressed in a typical school uniform as they were having a themed day.  The day before was nurses and Monday is police women.  I just happened to fall lucky.  Any way the younger looking one was very helpful even helping fasten the button-up fronts of my jeans, I always have struggled with them.  But even she struggled because somehow my jeans had become ever so tight.

The jeans were £35 and I also bought a pair of beige socks and a nice red scarf.  The total bill was £47.

I can't think of a reply to that but pleased you got some nice things. I bought a red scarf from M&S last week for £5.

  Try Sit Upsome sit ups.

I think you might be right.  They have just brought out an 80% ganach mixed with cream.  I'm getting to look quite toned.

Sit ups yes, and I don't need anyone to hold my feet down so there!

Don't you tuck your toes under the sofa then?

No, I do a lot of sit ups and I can now do them easily.  The most effective ones are to put your feet up on a chair and fold you arms across your chest.  Do twenty of them and it's like fifty normal ones and doesn't harm your back.

Newcastle was so packed yesterday I'm not surprised the assistants cant focus on what they're doing. I cant wait til Xmas is over.

I went to the metrocentre and it was quite comfortable to go shopping, no big queues.

I went to Topshop to get my sister some jewellery, took one look at the queue and walked out again.

A similar thing happened to me in M&S in the summer. I bought trousers, a top, a handbag and a coat. The bill came to £70 (half of what it should) because the assistant forgot to charge me for the coat.

It's great isn't it cherry? I would shop every day if I could get more freebies.

When I go into town wearing my coat I avoid M&S though, it feels like returning to the scene of the crime
