Post by: loulou on December 04, 2006, 11:59:14 pm
More than 15,500 gay and lesbian couples united in civil partnerships in the first nine months after new laws were brought in the UK.

There were 15,672 partnerships between December 2005 and September 2006, the Office for National Statistics said.

There were 14,084 partnerships in England, 537 in Wales, 942 in Scotland and 109 in Northern Ireland.

I forgot to ask my question. Has anyone here been to a gay wedding? I have been to a commitment ceremony and it was very nice.

People of the same sex cannot be married in my opinion.  They may be joined in some civil way but not married in any sense of the word I understand.  But then I am an old stick in the mud, who has irrelevant, old fashioned values that have no place in a modern world.

I've never been to one but I support it. As far as the religion goes, if god exists then he is beyond prejudice and discrimination, and anyone who says otherwise is using his name in vain.

Yes, I did the music for one.  And very nice it was too (the ceremony, not necessarily the music!).

I am a great Archers fan and will be listening in at the weekend.

I don't think it matters what you call the ceremony or arrangement that joins two people together. Whether they are gay or straight, if they are making a committment to each other, if such a thing as God exists, he/she will smile on them.

Little Britain star Matt Lucas has "married" his long-term partner Kevin McGee in a civil partnership ceremony, before a panto-themed reception.

Guests at the service in London included Lucas' comedy partner David Walliams and presenter Dale Winton.

The ceremony was kept fairly formal, with male guests wearing suits.

But the reception was a more outrageous affair as guests such as Elton John and Jonathan Ross took the opportunity to dress in pantomime costumes.

David Walliams describes himself as '70% heterosexual'.

That would make him bisexual.

I don't accept that a man can be bisexual.   I believe that heterosexuality and homosexuality lie at two ends of a continuum.  Some people are more sexual than others but essentially they will fall into one camp or the other (forgive the pun).  Those who are in the middle are probably more asexual than bisexual.  I am at the far end of heterosexuality so that I even dislike men in a platonic or social context.  Although this is as much to do with the drivel they talk about rather than anything sexual.

I don't know what David Walliams means by being 70% heterosexual.  If he is 30% homosexual then he is gay, he cannot be both as the two are mutually exclusive. I would suggest he is eith confused, in denial or has 'gender issues'.  My opinions are contraversial I know.

Do you have superior knowledge on this subject, or are these simply your personal opinions/ideas?

I am sure he knows his own mind and body better than you do. If you dislike men completely, even in a platonic and social sense, I think it is YOU that have some confusion to work through.

How does being 30% homosexual make him gay when he's 70% heterosexual? Like I said it makes him bisexual. You didn't say if you have knowledge on this so we'll assume it's your out-of-date ideas and opinions that make you think this.

When I was shopping today I seen the most beautiful mens pink shoes. They were a loafer style with different shades of pink and I fell in love with them. I was tempted to buy them for my friend for Christmas but after seeing they were £150 I decided I would tell him about them instead and suggest he buys them to wear to a summer wedding we are going to.

I don't think the thread needs locking - if we did that to every thread Bounty spouted drivel in, we'd have none left.

Yes, locking a thread because it becomes offensive or abusive is one thing but stifle free speech would be wrong.
