Title: Snickers Flapjack
Post by: on January 21, 2005, 08:50:06 am
My girlfriend surprised me with one of these with my coffee last night.  They're quite small but packed with goodness and quite filling.  Weight for weight they must be the most calorific thing around.

Very nice, but something like 20g of fat in one little flapjack

10g and 173 calories.  I reckon they's about 20g, so that's a lot of fat.

Frankly it's criminal.

Baked beans are great for a diet.  Did you know you would have to eat 12 stones of baked Beans for one ounce of fat!

I must say that baked beans have saved me many calories over the years. If I feel like a high calorie snack I work out the calories (say, 275 calories) and ask myself "That's the same as four slices of beans on toast - now would you eat a meal like that as a snack? No? So don't eat that many calories in one small choc bar/cake/etc then!!".

It sometimes works!!

For those who would like to seriously loose weight, here are some tips.  This is from someone who lost 3 stones in 9 months.

1.  Don't mix meat and potatoes.

2.  Drink PLENTY of water.  Six to eight decent tumblers a day.

3.  Eat a small bowl of cereal and milk one hour + before bed time.

4  Eat plenty of baked beans and mushy peas.  They're filling, but VERY low in fat.

5.  Never eat pastry, biscuits, cheese of any kind or suet.

6.  Try to get some exercise.  Walking up stairs, jogging or shagging are the best.  (Please seek medical advice before taking up jogging)

Good Luck - Bounty

It's not good news.  Chocolate is allowable, but it must be just one bar per week

Another tip: start cooking your evening meal before you get hungry. I found I'd start cooking when I felt hungry and would get impatient, and end up eating half a tub of potato salad or something like that waiting for my meal to cook. Also I think eating little and often helps. I used to be 15 stone and got down to 12st 5 at one stage, so there must be something in it!

I prefer having 3 meals a day. That one seems to work for me. Can't really do the little and often thing because I like to feel that I have had my breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Is it ok to shag up stairs? ;)
