Title: Small? Tall? Fat?
Post by: loulou on November 16, 2006, 03:17:37 pm
Scientists have worked out which parent to blame if you are unhappy with your weight or height.

Dads appear to determine the height of their child while mums tend to influence how much body fat they will have, a study suggests.

The work is ongoing, but researchers from the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital say the initial results are clear - taller dads make longer babies.

How fat the father is does not seem to influence a child's fatness, however.

My husband is 6ft 4 in and I am 5ft 1 in.  For my height, I'm fat but most people say I'm just cuddly.

If this is all true I'm sorted - my dad is tall (although not as tall as me), but also very fat, so according to this I won't inherit that. Lucky it wasn't the other way round!

Then again, my mother seems to have been dieting my entire life

My father was tallish and my Mother is fat and fairly short.

I am neither short nor that tall and need to run and watch what I eat to prevent becoming fat so it fits my profile.
