I am designing and marketing a chocolate bar for my A level buisness project and i was hoping some of you could tell me what you think of my product:
its a packet of small cadburys fingers, and is being designed for small children. The packets will be 60 grams and the size of each finger buscuit would be 4cm long and 1cm thick
I will be using colourful packaging to apeal to children. my ideal idea for this product was for it to be included in school pack lunches
I will call my product cadburys toes
any comments or suggestions would be great!
thank you
Sorry Roberto, I agree with Kevvosa; I really don't think aiming new products at kids' packed lunch boxes is the way to go.
I also don't think Cadbury's would be looking at adding this sort of product to their range as they are concentrating more on "luxury" products where they can get more money per product eg. chocolate with higher cocoa content and marketed as being indulgent.
I agree their is so much in the media about child obesity you could try and get round that somehow maybe emphasis only ? cals per pack and also emphasis it is a treat as its usually parents who buy treats for young kids. You could maybe also push the marketing and product design with them shaped as toes and colourful packaging also adverting after kids cartoons and gimmicky slogan " A toe shaped chocolately treat which kids will find really neat" so kids can use pester power CHEESEY I KNOW. Hope this helps
Hmmm yummy Toes I see where your comming from didnt really think that one through. It might freak the poor kids out
Sweetie Pie suggested he/she makes them "shaped like toes" and I imagined these squat, thick, toe-imprinted chocolate things with toe nails and the thought of eating them is sickening to me.
Eurgh, that is indeed quite a scary proposition!
I didnt know fish had fingers or toes Yeah I would eat em if they were called fish toes.
frogs legs anyone?
Altogether now - "No, we always walk like that."
Cadburys already have Mini Fingers out.. !!!
i bought a little bag last week..cost me $1.98
they are about half the size of a normal Cadbury's Finger..
i don't know if they are..
but can you actually designing and market a product and call it your own if it is already available..even if it is in another country..
i shall have to go have a look at a packet..i'm sure it said it was made and imported from UK..i'll get back to you on it..

Cadbury make several bars in the UK for the overseas market that are not available here - but then again, as Fingers are a big brand name here, I don't see why they wouldn't release the mini version.
If so, Roberto doesn't have to totally abandon the idea; just tweak it. It could be a project on rebranding rather than launching a new product.
thanks everyone!!
we arnt required to create a totally new product, we can just tweak and existing one or remarket and advertise it differently or even just market it to attract new audience
any more suggestions, would be appreciated
thank you....
I think Roberto is based in the UK though - are Mini Fingers available here?

i find the Cadbury Chocolate that is made here *Canada* is just awful..they must add something different into it..i always check to see where it's made before i buy it..
Hello Roberto17
The points made about childhood obesity and putting healthy things in lunches and as snacks for children are really good ones, and I agree with them 100%. I have to say I also agree that shaping them like toes might not appeal to parents but I don't know about children, I remember my eldest eating something called 'busting bugs' with great relish, when I had trouble looking at them even when they were still in the bag!!!.
But you asked for input so for what they're worth here are my suggestions.
60g might be a little big for a small child, a smaller bag might make them more of a treat in a lunch box for when they've finished all the healthy stuff you put in aswell. A bit of sugar in your system gives your body the energy needed to process the rest of your lunch.
Lets face it we would all like to think that children enjoy fruit and vegetables and I am sure they do, but most children love chocolate in one form or another, and parents do love to buy their children the things that make them happy. So if you're going to get their attention away from the competition and onto your product the more colourful the wrapper is the better really.
The only other thing I would say and I wish the real (no offense) manufacturers would get to grips with this idea, is that little fingers often have trouble opening chocolate wrappers nowadays. The tamper proof wrappers have made it very hard to get to the chocolate inside so a draw string (that works!!!) around one end so the child can open it's own package would be very useful, especially to a mum with a two year old in a buggy and a couple of bags full of shopping aswell.
Good luck with your A Level Project, I hope any of this helps.
