Title: Galaxy on Mars?
Post by: pete1976 on November 05, 2006, 10:10:30 pm

I'm hoping someone on here can settle an argument.  Basically, is the chocolate on Mars, Snickers, Bounty etc the same as Galaxy?  I think it is but my girlfriend insists that they produce two different chocolates - one for Galaxy and one for the other products.

Many thanks.

Personally I think that Mars bars and Snickers do use Galaxy chocolate on them, but some Mars products don't (such as M&M's).

You could always write to the company itself and ask them.

I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed somewhere that they use Galaxy choc on Mars and Snickers. A pity Nestle can't use Double Cream on KitKats, Toffee Crisp etc.

The chocolate tastes different to me.  I wouldn't have thought that it's the same.

It is the same.  It's hard to believe but it's true.  Incidentally, of the big three, I have more time for Mars (Masterfoods) than the other two.

But it tastes so different? Maybe it's because the filling alters the taste.

I don't think it tastes in the least bit different.

Is there any proof that it's the same?  Makes sense being a Mars product really but to me they taste different.  I asked my husband without telling him my own thoughts on the matter and he thought they were different.

Very interesting

I definitely read it somewhere - Wikipedia maybe? And please no one tell me 'you can't take Wikipedia as fact, anyone can edit it' - I already know thank you.

Well, I got the following email from Masterfoods today:

"The recipe we use to make Galaxy is one on it's own and not used on any other chocolate bars."

:-(

I still want to know why they go to the effort to produce two different types of milk chocolate though!

Well I never did.

As for why they'd make two types of chocolate, I can thing of one obvious reason - cost.
