We have so many prisoners because we are a country with a significant proportion of barbarian thickos. This is a rotten corruption abroad in this country, which probably began sometime in the 1980's. Doesn't matter who's fault it is, it's there and it's getting worse.
I believe the only way to turn the country round and prevent wholesale decline into criminal anarchy is to build lots more prisons and fill them up. We need zero tolerance and more on the spot fines. If it's possible it would also help to prevent certain sectors of the community from having children.
While we're at it, I see this monster who pinched the little girl from her bath and raped her had convictions for sexualy assaulting a 12 year old girl. What in f**k'S name was he doing out. Anyone who commits any sexual assault against a child should be incarcerated for life.

I don't see the point in building more prisons. Surely it would be better to work towards making sure less people had to be sent there in the first place?

actually, to be 100% precise... 'the verne' prison ship was closed down and shipped out earlier this year. (think it went abroad to be used for it's original intentions - a floating military barracks.) good riddance!

Will they bollocks, they wil flood our streets with people on various schemes and put law abiding citizens at risk from more crime and misery. This country and its government is a big pile of poo. We (the nice people*) deserve better. I think we need some sort of revolution.
