Des Lynam is leaving at Christmas. Who would you like to see take his place?
-
Tom O'Connor.
Des claims they offered to move production to London for him, but that he couldn't face putting the crew out of work. I heard they wouldn't move for him.
-
Good ridins to the old gits.
he not that great!
no on can replace GRAND OLD DICK!
but there can do better than DES!
-
Hurrah - he's crap! I normally watch it at 5am due to my insomnia phase. Please don't tell me off, but i wasn't overkeen on Richard either - i just like the programme. Who would be good...

ummm...someone intelligent, with carisma. Ummm, I'll have to get back to you on that one.
-
Just had a thought...
Adrian Chiles could be good
-
Interesting thought, but I think he's considered a bit of a rising star in the BBC, so I don't see them letting him go too easily - plus he might be a bit inexperienced.
-
How about Paul Coia?
-
John Cleese?
-
How about Paul Coia?
That's exactly who I was going to suggest - he used to be good on Catchword.
-
timmy mallett?
-
John Cleese would be good! I've got the ideal person...
...someone intelligent
...someone interesting
...someone amicable
....Stephen Fry!
-
-
I don't like Stephen Fry. How about Des O'Connor?
-
NO
how about a woman?
-
Dawn French?
-
-
I don't think Carol would go for the idea of another woman on Countdown. I like the Tom O'Connor suggestion though.
-
How about Tony Blair?
-
I suppose he'll have the free time...
-
I vote Simon Cowell for the job.
-
NO
how about a woman?
at risk of being beaten to death with a barrage of handbags, hosting countdown is not a womans place. it needs to be a greying middle-aged man.

June Whitfield?
-
there Debeat that
STEPHEN FRY shoudl took over or the trans secy man in stocking
Ex tory Mp .......... gyes something
-
I think 623 would be good on countdown.
-
Rick Wakeman is good in dictionary corner, I wonder if he would be good as the host?
Maybe Countdown should have guest hosts, so they change each week?
-
I think that has killed Have I Got News For You.
-
I didn't mean permanently, I meant testing different people out. Then the presenters can see what it's like and the viewers get to see different people. They could then make the viewers vote for their favourite presenter
-
I'd like to see carol replaced.
-
Gyles Brandreth, Alan Titchmarsh, Michael Aspel and Eamomn Holmes are all currently in the frame. Of those I think Aspel is probably the best choice, but for me Tom O'Connor is still the best option. He's always good on Dictionary Corner, plus he used to do Crosswits so he understands the workload of a daily quiz show - I don't think Des Lynam did.
-
Gyles Brandreth, Alan Titchmarsh, Michael Aspel and Eamomn Holmes are all currently in the frame. Of those I think Aspel is probably the best choice
I agree
-
Eamonn Holmes is favourite to replace Des Lynam according to the papers and the bookies.
-
Isn't he a bit too dim?
-
Yes but he isn't on morning tv now and probably needs the job.
-
Magnus Magnusson has been diagnosed with cancer and I was thinking he would have been a good replacement for Des Lynam.
-
Noel Edmonds, who lost out to Des Lynam for the job, has said in today's paper that he thinks Tom O'Connor should get the job. Didn't someone else suggest that?
-
I don't think Noel Edmonds would be good on Countdown. Nor Eamonn Holmes!
-
Let Ozzy Osbourne do it.
